Car Financing - Age Discrimination?

Featured Replies

A friend was about to close a deal to finance a new car here in Pattaya. The sales person said no problem with financing but the finance manager explained he was 70 and to old to qualify for financing. He bought the car for cash but of course is not happy about the way situation was handled. In his home country and mine (USA) age discrimination is illegal and the dealer would be looking at a lawsuit but TIT. Does anyone know what is the age cutoff? This could affect me as I am 64 and got a car loan last year with no problem.

Bob. You posted this yesterday and got a generally negative response. It will be the same today.

So if I am 80 years old and want to buy a house in the USA the banks will give me a mortgage of 30 years?

Maybe you forgot, could be age, that you posted this here already.

So another thread for us all to tell you yet again your friend is delusional. if he could afford to buy the car why not just buy the car. most of my family is in the motor trade back home and they would simply laugh the old fart out of the office. It isn't discrimination as you keep harping on about but just plain old good business sense. !

Give it a rest dude he ain't back in the States now is he ?
