SAMUT PRAKAN, Oct 26 - A Pakistani man was arrested at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport on suspicion of murdering a 41-year-old Thai woman in the northern province of Chiang Mai.

Syed Muhammad Ali, 41, was apprehended, with several items seized, at the check-in counter area of an international airline at the airport today.

Chiang Mai Provincial Court had earlier issued an arrest warrant for the suspect who is accused of murdering Duangduen Harris, a shop owner in Chiang Mai, on Oct 18.

Initially, the suspect told police investigators that he had a fight with the victim before killing her, escaping to Hat Yai district in the southern province of Songkhla, and preparing to flee the country.

Chiang Mai police have been contacted to take the suspect in for further prosecution. (MCOT online news)

SAMUT PRAKAN: -- A Pakistani man who is suspected of killing a Thai woman in Chiang Mai was arrested yesterday at Suvarnabhumi Airport as he was preparing to board a flight out of Thailand.

Syed Muhammadali, 41, refused to testify but many valuables thought to belong to the dead woman were found in his luggage.

Duangduen Haris was last seen alive while she was walking side by side with Muhammadali at 2.17am on October 17 into her room. At 8.20am that same morning, he left the room alone. Duangduen was found dead the next day. Her throat was cut and there was deep knife wound from her neck down to her chest.

Police traced Muhammadali to Songkhla, where he spent at least one night.

He then made a reservation to fly out of Thailand yesterday.

Fairly fast arrest. So there is a chance Police can actually function correctly...

what's the big function deal? he was listed as wanted in the databank of the immigration. passport scanned, red light flickers, immigration officer calls police, police arrests.

Off topic post removed.

Topic is about Pakistani murder suspect arrested not the Red Bull case

If proven guilty he should face the death penalty for a brutal murder like this. Throat cut and deep stab wound.

Well done to the RTP for a quick arrest of the last person seen to be with this poor lady whilst she was still alive.

Ali told police that the reason he killed Harris was because when he offered her a gift, which he said was a symbol of Islam, she threw it back in his face. Police are at the moment skeptical of Ali’s statement as Harris was robbed of all her jewelry and other belongings.

Well that makes it all ok then???

Agree. Though have to admit he did make it easier for them to turn up at Suvarnabhumi after already having been to Hat Yai from CM.

Not sure what his thought process was there?

Did it really take all 10 of those in tne photo to arrest him?

Ha.. You beat me to it. I was thinking the same thing. Maybe it's a "Look at me Ma, I'm a big wheel policeman".

If it is really the murderer, very good job to all concerned in his apprehension and closure for all family and friends, RIP.

Indeed, they let him traverse the entire length of the country before they happened upon him. I guess just as well he wasn't something serious like a murder suspect.

Hey, don't understimate the level of "rationalization" some extreme muslims are taking. Look at the recent uproar over that movie that was negative towards their "religion". If somebody criticizes anything there are some that are teaching and some that are believing and performing extreme reactions.

And then, after he had quite justifiably killed her for insulting Islam, he figured I might as well knock off her stuff before the cops do it and blame me. All quite reasonable really. Considering she was 1/ a woman 2/ a non-believer and 3/ tempting a good muslim into sinful acts, in some parts of the world they might even give him a medal.

that's not possible. the usual suspects will jump and use any occasion, no matter how far-fetched to publish their stupid assumptions and insinuations.
