Cabbages & Condoms Opens First Restraurant In Uk

from the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk...gazine-20043530

A new restaurant promoting safe sex and condom use has opened in the UK, but many people are still too embarrassed to even buy them - why?

As sex education goes, it's pretty unconventional.

Cabbages and Condoms is a Thai restaurant chain that serves food along with contraception. The name says it all.

My first reaction was to check that this was the genuine C&C and profits would be going to a good cause, and not someone cashing in on a good name, which as is stated in the article all profits do indeed go to sex education and Aids prevention programmes in Thailand thumbsup.gif

If K Meechai converted to the Catholic Church he'd be canonized. His various organizations all do great work.

I hope they'll be offering free sterilizations upstairs from the London one as well, great public service that.

Too bad they're not making much headway getting effective sex ed into the school system, especially in the critical pre-adolescent years. . .

Bicester makes no sense at all, if it were in that awful outlet mall then maybe, used to have busloads of tourists up from London & Oxford however on a recent trip even the mall was dead.

I remember when most Thais called condoms , "meechai". He certainly has saved countless lives, especially when Hiv was rampant here.

Did you know he was half Scottish ?

Ive seen C&C in strange places. Once in the middle of nowhere on the road to Borabeu, Mahasarakham.

If the Thai food it serves is anywhere near as bad as it is in the Bangkok branch then Bicester makes quite a lot of sense smile.png

It's not really about the quality (which by the way is fine), however it;s location if it is in the Clarks Village is perfect for a business

WAS rampant??!! You must be kidding!

Yes millions of lives were saved, and it's true that the rate of increase was greatly reduced, but let's not kids ourselves about the absolute percentage rate of infection, particularly among sex workers, but even looking at the total population it's much much higher than it should be, because mainstream society never took on board continuing and extending his educational efforts effectively into the school system to make sure each subsequent generation is properly indoctrinated in the importance of safe sex practices.

Expensive treatments and reduced risk of wealthy first-world populations getting decimated has led to complacency in recent years, but that's a pretty stupid situation, and please don't propagate it yourself.

Good point. OK, IMO deserving of a Nobel-level prize for his work. . .
