Hi all, I've got a 1 year non immigrant visa (on basis of having child), with a multi re entry permit.

The visa is valid until August 2013, however when I entered at the airport last week the officer put a stamp that said I am able to stay until 1st December, I assume he didn't look for a visa and just stamped a 30 day visa exempt.

I take it that I have to go to Immigration BKK and sort it out?

Is a visarun no option?

In case, I did understand it right, you have a multiple Non Imm visa.

So you have to leave anyway every 90 days. see it as 'training', and fill out the entry card with the visa number, the next time!

Also: Check always, after you passed the immigration, if they stamped you, like expected!

It appears you have a one year extension of stay if you have a re-entry permit so that re-entry permit information should have been entered as your visa information on arrival card and the expiration date entered as your permitted to stay. You will have to visit immigration to get stamp corrected if mistake was made.

Note, if you didn't do it this time, when returning to Thailand with a Re-Entry Permit, best to list it in the "visa number" area, eg:

Show re-enter permit number first, then right after that, write in capital letters: RE-ENTRY PERMIT

Helps to make the Immigration officer notice that you have one so he/she doesn't just chop you in for 30 days.

Perhaps related: i have a 1-year retirement multiple re-entry visa that expires in February 2013. When I entered in Feb 2012 the passport was stamped with an expiration date of May 2013. When at Chiang Mai Immigration the other day I inquired as to when I need to depart or renew and was told the May date. Of course, I am aware that this could be one person's opinion and the regulation could be different; but as it stands I intend to remain until May before renewal. Right or wrong?

Immigration was talking about an extension of stay.

I assume you have a multiple entry non-immigrant OA visa that you got at a Thai embassy or consulate.

The dates you wrote are a bit confusing. You wrote that you entered in February and got a permitted to stay stamp for May of 2013 that is more than the one year allowed by your visa.

If you leave and re-enter before you visa expires in February you will get another one year stay. After that date you will have to do an extension of stay at immigration in May.

Thanks for all your replies, yes it is a 1 year extension of stay so no need for visa runs, just 90 day reporting. Good suggestion by Thanyaburi also, thanks again.

Looks like I'm off to immigration.

Also, is there a timeframe that I have to go to immigration to have the stamp corrected? eg: 15 days after entering .

Also can they definately correct the stamp? I assume they won't tell me I have to do the whole 1 year extension process over again.
