I will be arriving at Suvarnabhumi from Ubon late in the evening and flying out early in the morning to Oz.I don't want to go into BKK city just for a few hours sleep,so my plan is just to hang around the airport until my flight out. Then it occured to me that maybe the doors at Suvarnabhummi are closed at sometime during the night and all the "customers" are thrown out.Does anyone have any info re this?

Cheers

No, the airport remains open.

Certain business like restaurants and shops (some) will be closed however.

OP, no, fortunately the airport doesn't close for people like you, but unfortunately it doesn't for local residents who have to bear the brunt of aircraft noise, even at night. Fortunately there aren't many flights late at night (between 1am and 6am) though.

Airport doesn't close. One of my trips I arrived at about 1:30 am. After clearing immigration, I decided to just wait for the morning bus to Pattaya. Other times I took the taxi to Pattaya. There are a few hotels nearby (see other threads on that), that take less than 30 minutes back and forth to get to. Might be worth your comfort factor to head there, and be able to at least shower and sit on the bed for 2 hours before continueing your travel to Oz

I arrived in the evening and stayed at the airport to get my early morning flight to Khon Kaen.In fact where i had to book in there were several seats where one could relax and have a nap. There were several of us waiting for early morning flights.

One site I found extremely useful is sleepinginairports.com

Between 00:00 and 03:00 there are approx. 33 departures and 14 arrivals

Between 03:00 and 06:00 there are 4 departures and 14 arrivals

Br 61 to Vienna leaves at 03:27, TG 390 to DEL leaves at 03:40

The airport starts getting busy at 04:30 with a large number of departes and arrivals starting then. That means that the desks have to be open at least 2 hours prior.

If you look on this site, you will see ads that link to Agoda, type in Suvarnabhumi airport or Bangkok Airport, it will bring up many $25 rooms and some have free pick up.

BKK is a crap airport to kill time in, not like Singapore.
