Billion (Tot) Router & Nas (Wd My Book Live)- Can't Find Drive

HI, Last week got a Western Digital My Book Live 2TB NAS drive but could not get it to connect to my laptop (wifi)

Called WD support in Singapore and tried many different things, disabling Comodo firewall, switch off avast antivirus, disable firewall in router, hard reset, connecting direct to laptop and the drive was not found - in the end WD singapore said it was faulty and to get it exchanged.

New drive arrived yesterday and appears the same, except in the router can now see the drive has been assigned an ip address (192.168.1.5), all the light are correct on the drive. Spent over an hour on phone to WD support in US this morning did all same checks as before including repowering, reconnecting, hard reset, The drive is not found by install cd or the wd link software they had me download, can not ping the drive or access it through browser, again did not work with direct pc connection, eventually they got it working by connecting pc direct to router with ethernet cable instead of wifi, but i need it work over wifi as the router is in a different room. They say they think the issue is with the Billion router blocking the NAS over wifi and need to check with them, the email support page is not working on billion website and the support web given for thailand astra dot in dot th does not work either.

Router is Model : BiPAC 5200GR4 (TOT)

Firmware: 2.11.92.0(RE2.C29)3.12.1.0

I am running XP SP3

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

http://www.astra.co.th/contact.php is the Thai website. They have an office near Ari BTS that handles repairs and support.

You could also take a look at http://au.billion.co...dex.php?act=idx and http://forums.whirlp.../forum/82?&g=54

Billion is a popular brand in Australia with good support so a search there may turn up some information for you.

Thanks kkerry, The contact page on the billion website fails to send after you've filled it all out, so I've sent off an email to astra but I think they only work monday to friday. Will try and call on monday (hope they are ok with English).

Looked through the forums you suggested and found nothing related. I've since updated the routers firmware with the latest tot version from astra, also updated the MBL - still no luck. Maybe a new router but don't really want to buy one and end up in the same place.

The model you have is at least 4 years old and probably fairly basic being from TOT. I skimmed a few of the many 5200GR4 topics on Whirlpool and saw a few replies on other issues simply suggesting a better model was the answer. You really should try a post on Whirlpool yourself as there will be plenty of posters with your model and the differences between the Australian version and the one sold in Thailand will be minimal. There are also some Billion reps who post there so it's probably a better place to get an answer than from the official Billion forums.

At Astra, one of the engineers could speak reasonable English when I visited the office a few years ago, so did Tai (sales exec./manager?).

Thanks kkerry.

I sent the email to astra and I was called this morning by engineer at about 9.15am, spoke clear English and understood my issue exactly.

The problem has now been fixed, He had me download teamviewer so he could remotely access my pc.

He tried all the things I had previously, he told me the new firmware 2.12.12.0(RE2.C2)3.12.2.0_TOT should have fix the problem, this I had downloaded already. All that was needed to get it working was...

Maintenance>Sysrestart>factory default settings

It did all the restarts when I installed the new firmware so never really thought to do it again but doing this again and of course reentering all the isp details got it working right away.

The engineer was Nui, I was very impressed with him. He can be contacted at [email protected]
