Its a charcoal bbq!

You have to burn wood to get charcoal.

Your question is like asking should I use water to make ice.

Sorry Im not being mean but its just how a charcoal bbq works. You can put all the wood you like in it, it will turn into charcoal.

Used to all the time when I was growing up. One year we had lightning strike a 150-year-old apple tree in the yard, had lovely BBQ off that for three years running.

Just have to start things going a couple of hours before it's time to cook, get a good bed of glowing coals.

Regular steel's not good for that level of heat, better to build a brick one right off the ground.

Heavy-duty grill on top too stiff metal brush to scour it before and after. Potatoes in foil tossed in there, boil up some fresh-picked corn, Yummy.
