PATTAYA:--Two Polish men and one Ukrainian were arrested by Pattaya Police on Friday afternoon, accused of using bank cards containing stolen account information to withdraw cash from ATM’s around the city.

Police Colonel Tamanoon, the Pattaya Police Chief, in his capacity as head of the Chonburi Transnational Crime Suppression Unit, announced the arrest of Mr. Lukasz Michal Szymanski aged 32 from Poland, Mr. Robert Luczak aged 36 from Poland and Mr. Anatoliy Bosyy aged 25 from Ukraine.

They were caught with 49 fake bank cards and 25,000 Baht in cash in the car park of the Tune Hotel in North Pattaya following a report from the anti-corruption unit at the Siam Commercial Bank that the men had used the cards to withdraw at least 2 Million Baht from ATM’s around the city. Security Cameras fitted to the machines suggested they used baseball caps to conceal their faces and would use two-way radios which Police later determined would be used to alert the men if Police were nearby. .

During questioning the men confirmed that 2 Million Baht had already been sent to the organizer of the operation in Ukraine.

How many more of these morons have got to be caught before they learn that they will be caught here, time they moved thier operations to other shores.

Well, the organizer seems to be doing just fine in Ukraine.

Have you thought about how many more gangs are in operation and NOT getting caught?

True, and the other side of the coin is when will banks change their systems to make it much more difficult to steal money through ATMs?

I'm not sure if it's true but I recently heard a conversation along the lines that Australia has set a target date whereby plastic cards must be totally gone and everything must be done by fingerprints.

I have no personal technical knowledge whether fingerprint is more secure. Perhaps a TV member who is familiar with this might like to share a comment

Fingerprints are not secure. It only takes a few seconds with a 50B knife to bypass fingerprint protection. Personally I would rather lose the contents of my bank account than a finger.

Retinal scans are equally insecure though the bypass procedure is somewhat more gruesome.

The answer is to ensure that the account connected to your card only contains a minimal amount of money. That way you just cant lose very much if when it all goes wrong. This is what I do.

Seems crime does pay but only the top dogs, and the like the drug trade, only the mules (or should I say donkeys) get caught.

Question remains open - who was the top dog in this case?

we know only - they extracted 2 mill from ATMs and they dont have it now.

VerIzDzeMoni?

me think - in Pattaia

Two of the three caught guys are my fellow countrymen, and I don't feel sorry for them. I wonder how long they will spend behind bars.
