Viewing Recorded Programs From Truevision's Pvr

Truevisions sell a hard disk with its HD receiver to record movies. These recordings take each a folder in the hard disk with typically 6 files. They have the extensions .XMA, .XMD, .XMI, .XMV, .EXT and .STR.

While the other files are small in size, the .STR is very large, which makes me believe it is this file, which actually contains the movie program.

I am able to see these files when I connect the hard disk to my Mac, but I cannot play back them.

Does anyone know which program can play back these recordings or change the format to a viewable form?

Or, can it be done on a (Windows) PC?

Programs recorded this way usually are DRM protected, so can only be played back by the device which did the recording!

Pretty good chance that what you want to do will not be possible!

Both replies above are spot on. The movie must be played back on the orginal PVR box and files are only valid as long as your subscription to PVR is active. If your subscription expires, you will not be able to watch any of the saved files at all.
