Pattaya Looks forward to Loy Krathong

Pattaya: Huge celebrations coming to Pattaya and all of Thailand

We can expect fireworks and huge celebrations around Thailand of course the city of Pattaya as the world famous, and religiously significant celebrations take place. Tonight will be a night of parties around lakes, rivers and beaches as people from every walk of life take part in Loy Krathong

Loi Krathong is always celebrated on the night of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Lunar calendar of Thailand

Loi literally means ‘to float,’ while krathong is the the lotus-shaped boat which is floated on the rivers, lakes and oceans around the kingdom.

The hand sized boat itself is made from the leaves of the banana tree and traditionally was filled with food, betel nuts, flowers, joss sticks, candle and coins. Money is added as a special gift to the spirits of water, in whose honour the celebrations take place.

I think we'll all be floating down Pattaya Klang if this rain continues

Dark, overcast and raining all over, as of 2:30pm

Pattaya city may be looking forward to it but anyone living close to Mabprachan reservoir will have to deal with bumper to bumper traffic and a bit of chaos for a few hours ....

Just another excuse for the city to get more money from the same vendors that sell the same junk by blocking the foot paths on Beach road, not to mention another excuse to cut down some more shade trees at the non working fountain
