The douchebags riding ber loud harleys have no idea how ridiculous they are. When eating in a restaurant and one of those <deleted> comes along, making any conversation impossible, everybody, thais or farangs, shake their heads in disbelief at the complete moron passing by.

They think they are so cool but they are even more pathetic than the brainless thai teenagers with their modified moped.

It would be so nice if the police could seize those bikes and set them on fire smile.png

So what we can do?

We cannot ride bikes or harleys just because your lovely as.hole ears might get hurt? And thai people do not mind that much i know especially after all these noise coming from open pipes of all the Thai boats there? Just get the boats muffled or complain about it first!

How do you know if a bike has a pipe or not? Just by sound? Or prejudice?

Big bikes are noisy machines in nature so if we can buy them, we can also ride them without worrying about lovely ears.

Yes i m against exaggerated loudy bikes on honda waves or scooters but bigbikes are bigbikes man.

There are no boats near my door at 4am.

I agree with "big bikes are big bikes", but... the normal pipes aren't too noisy.

I talk about people going out of their way to specially fit noisier pipes on their bikes...

About being old... I'm under 40 and people I see riding big bikes are mostly much older!

The younger guys mostly ride modern bikes in the racing look, which aren't too loud.

There is one specialist right here in my condo, he must be closer to 80 than to 70, and not only does his bike take 2 bike parking spaces, but it is also noisy as hell. Thank god he doesn't use it too often.

He looks hilarious when riding it, I have to turn away to stop wanting to burst out in laughter.

You old guys, put down your crochet or knitting for a minute. This a weeee 250cc. laugh.png

That's looks like a great way to ruin your hearing! I've been an audio engineer since 1976 and I don't appreciate loud exhaust systems. They hurt my ears, as does loud music that isn't mixed properly!

Here's a little anecdote for you cool guys. It's about a guy I was following out of my soi. I later found out who he was when I related the story to a friend who recognised the description of the guy and his bike...

I left my house in my pickup and got up behind this big Harley. It had angular, orange panniers on each side, handle bars that were 4 feet off the ground and driven by this large, old guy wearing a German style helmet.

We were both going very slowly and he was clearly struggling to keep it upright. When we got to the junction with the main soi, he had a lot of trouble turning right, but eventually managed it. I then noticed his exhaust pipes had little circular things spinning round - caused by the exhaust gasses, I presume. (My friend later told me these things lit up at night. We both had a giggle about that.)

So now he is chugging his way along the soi and has to manoeuvre his way though the street market that straddles the soi. We were both going very slowly, giving the Thais plenty of time to look and stare.

I noticed one young couple who looked at him and gave him a really nice smile. "Aw, that's nice", I thought. Then, just as he passes them, they both put their hands up to their mouths in an unsuccessful attempt to hide the fact that they were laughing their heads off. (The shaking shoulders gave it away.)

What are you talking about? I'm not talking about all motorbike riders. A big bike is noisier than a honda click, ok, but not that much. Even a standard harley is not that noisy.

I'm only talking about the retards who pay extra money to make their bike more annoying. I can understand that a natural asshol_e would want to annoy people, implicitly giving the finger to everybody else (hence the quote " if we can buy them, we can also ride them without worrying about lovely ears" which says a lot). But to pay extra bucks to do that, we are breaking the world record of stupidity.

Nowadays there's even a new breed of those morons riding around, usually old and obese, russian, or both. They buy a PCX and get it customized so that it becomes ten times as noisy as the original bike. What the hell wrong with those guys? I really can't understand this behaviour once you get past 15 years old.

well, the guy deserves some credit, at least for the entertainment value.

A hog is loud but it’s a good sound, but Honda 2 stroke with its muffler removed sounds like it is, terrible, it forces everyone to look and see what could make such an awful sound only to spot a moron on a cheap bike with no muffler racing past. Their blight on society. I've noticed in patong their seems less of them these days. The police started setting motor bike check points to enforce the helmet law. Once everyone started wearing helmets they started checking license and registrations. I think this last check has removed many of these thoughtless peace disturbers off the road. Could it be that if you modify your made in Japan bike to sound like an irritation device you may also feel a valid license and registration to be of limited value?

Nothing wrong with the throaty sound of a well tuned Harley with stock pipes, or super bike with same. Anything else is just foolish and irritating. BTW, I’m not that old.

the noise pollution off these hair dryer on wheels is just that " a unwanted and unnecessary audible sound that saturates the airspace without concern or respect for anyone else", my business depends on quiet, serene calmness day in, day out these bastards ride around our business area, now the other option is i double or even treble glaze the whole business premises, then add another brick layer to the single brick construction, yeah right!!!! to keep the increasing noise pollution out, I'm not complaining, right i'm not, ban, ban , ban them, crush them, shape it into a pointy annoying phallic shape and ram it where the sun don't shine, glad i got that off my chest!!!wai2.gif

When l started up the Pontiac the lady next door had to steady the photos on her mantle peace cheesy.gif , she loved it. thumbsup.gif .

I had a neighbour like you once. My wife asked him 3 times politely over a period of a month if he could not do that with his car as it disturbed our kids while they were studying.

He didnt stop. So she called her brother in law and he came over with 3 of his bikie club mates and they belted in his front door, took his car keys and drove the car away and burnt it in the bush.

He moved out the next day. Life in the street returned to its normal Stepford Wives existence and I opened another beer. My ex wife had some redeeming qualities.
