Modem
Is Malaysia better than Thailand Example one Malaysia has UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Malacca. Thailand has Pattaya. Example two Malaysia has the Petronas twin towers. Thailand (Bangkok, actually) has the Elephant Building. Example three Malaysia is the gateway to Singapore. Thailand is the gateway to Laos. Example four Malaysia has great Indian and Muslim food Thailand has greasy fried rice. Example five Malaysia has the Cameron Higlands. Thailand has Isaan. Did I miss anything? Popular Post rgs2001uk
Did I miss anything? Yes Thailand doesnt have a racist apartheid system dreamt up by good old Matathir. Lee Kuan Yew was correct, nothing but a bunch of country bumpkins. Popular Post BoonToong
We all have different tastes, but short easy answer for me is "no". I've seen or done most of the things on your list and think that Thailand is far, far better than Malaysia.

Stop ordering Kow Pad and try some of the thousands of other dishes available. I've seen greasy food on the streets of Malaysia too (and a whole bunch of mock western crap too). Ulysses G.
IMO Thailand is MUCH better. That is why I live here. However Malaysia makes a nice holiday trip from time to time.

Popular Post BlackPuddingBertha
"Is Malaysia better than Thailand Example one Malaysia has UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Malacca. Thailand has Pattaya." Both countries have nice and nasty places. "Example two Malaysia has the Petronas twin towers. Thailand (Bangkok, actually) has the Elephant Building." As a follow-on to (1), I think that both KL and Bangkok are equally ghastly and I would rather slit my throat than live in either. "Example three Malaysia is the gateway to Singapore. Thailand is the gateway to Laos." Indeed. A huge point in Thailand's favour. Singapore is incredibly boring. "Example four Malaysia has great Indian and Muslim food Thailand has greasy fried rice." Malaysia certainly does have extremely good food, often at lower prices than here. But Thai food can be very good too. "Example five Malaysia has the Cameron Higlands. Thailand has Isaan." The Cameron Highlands used to be nice, 30 years ago. Not any more. You forgot Example Five, the biggy: Thailand is mostly Buddhist Malaysia is mostly Muslim and there, I'm afraid, the discussion ends and Malaysia loses. One interesting experiment might be to go to the Malaysian/Thai border, and see which way the (local) tourists travel. I think I know what the answer will be.

You ever eaten food on the streets of KL? The big difference between street food in KL and BKK is grease. Talking about issan? Have u tried som tam? Greasy? Tried kan dok in CMX? Btw, what kind of street food r u talking about in BKK? Guess u r one of those who had back packers version of pad Thai on the streets of khao San? Been to "pad thai per too pi" aka "pad thai gates of hell"? There is nothing great about Malaysia - u r not a Muslim. Guess the OP is either a Malaysia or a newbie in LOS. Payboy
Only point in Malaysia's favour is that it's got Thailand as a neighbour. Ask Malaysians spending their weekends in Hat Yai and they'll all agree.

plopmeister
I have lived in LOS since '96 but during that time I have witnessed the following whilst working in Malaysia:- Raiding Catholic churches during Sunday Mass to catch maids working without a permit. Wanting to have seperate swimming pools for male and female tourists Being able to divorce by SMSing " I divorce you" 3 times Having the least racially integrated workplace of any country I have ever been in
