My pleasure Bung.

I was in the exact same position when I ordered the my 2012 Pajero Sport. I already knew of the 2013 model coming out with the motorshow, but I still went with the 2013 model.

I changed:

1. Alpine system to an aftermarket Alpine system with all the bells and whistles

2. Added steering wheel control

3. Added rear-view camera (included with my aftermarket system)

I am not sure what you will get from your 2 cars in 12 months, but if I was in your position I would seriously wait a bit longer to see what other brands will do or research a bit more.

I bought my PJS and intend to use it for at least 5 years. If you also intend to use it for a long time, then you should better wait for a newer model no? Otherwise you will be THAT guy with the 2013 model whilst everyone is driving the 2014 model smile.png

Oh the shame...not having the latest model car! The loss of face would be too much for even a farang to bare. People who think like you would never buy a car...it's like buying a computer, at some point you have to just dive in and buy one as there'll always be a better spec'd one 6 months down the road.

Why would you compare a computer with a car? Computers change much quicker than cars...What if I bought an old spec core i7 pc just when the new Sandy Bridge models were about to come out? I would feel pretty cheated.

Same goes for when I would buy an old model car just when the new car is around the corner. However, in the case of the Pajero Sport, it seems that the new model will still take some time to come out so I would say go ahead and buy it.

I went to another dealer yesterday and they have a 2012 PJS in White (what I want). Offering to upgrade all the options to bring it inline with the 2013 model (rear video, steering wheel audio controls, reversing camera etc). I like the cream interior more too, the new ones not so much with the grey lower trim but figure the black seats will not show up the dirt as much. It is 15,000 baht cheaper too.....

Still want to see a 2013 model in the flesh though first.

As that is an "old" model, I believe you could get something more than 15.000 THB - a nice discount or more equipments. I got the reversing camera on mine with no problems, and it was not a change of model.

Just be pushy with them and go from one dealer to another with your offers. And sell your cars to a tent directly, not to the dealer. The trade-in might bring in some more money.

The cream interior does show a bit of the dirt, particularly in my case with carrying kids around from football matches. Nothing that can't be addressed with a good cleaning, and I think I prefer that to the black interior which would have the prospect of frying the occupants in the event that the car is ever parked outdoors.

The reversing camera is usually already a free "extra" although I didn't take it :) I asked for cash back.

The steering wheel audio controls I had put it at RS sound for 900 THB + 300 THB working hours.

Rear video screen you can get aftermarket too.

How about asking them to pay for an upgrade of the audio system? The alpine system in the 2012 model is really old fashioned. Ask them to pay for a new JVC, Kenwood or Pioneer system.

My JVC system with reverse camera was around 26,000 THB.

Oh yeah and I forgot to mention that, when I got my car I didn't take

1. Reverse Camera

2. Window Film

3. Free Carpet

4. Spoiler, etc.

But I negotiated a 50,000 THB discount. With the money I saved on the car I bought my JVC system, better carpets, 3M window film :)

I also sold that Alpine Unit for 12,000 THB to someone who was looking for an original piece

From memory freebies with mine which was early in the 2012 run were 1st class insurance, rust protection, reversing camera, rubber mats, carpet mats, rego etc, 3M film, service vouchers, 1,000 baht diesel, and some other trivial things. I recall that there were 11 things on the list but not what they all were.

I think this list is pretty standard so if you are taking the outgoing model you should manage to go beyond this list. Rear screen & steering wheel audio controls are a good start, but I like JoeW's idea of trying for an upgraded entertainment system (2013 model has a different one to the 2012 model) as the one in the 2012 model sounds fine, but is fiddly and old fashioned.
