Thai Woman Tricked And Sexually Abused By Brazilian Drug Traffickers

Well at least no one has come forward to complain that they're not BLACK, they're African-Brazilians. Isn't it wonderful how multiculturalism has ushered the new age of the HYPHEN. A white person that moves from South Africa to the US would now be a Caucasian-African-American. Don't ya just love political constructiveness?

On a silly note ... I have to know the name of her phone company ... her Thai SIM card worked in Brazil ...

On a serious note ... relieved that there was a happy ending to this sorry tale.

Is there any information about who paid form the ladies tickets to travel to Brazil in the first place?

Why does this article emphasize "Black men"? Would it not suffice to say Brazilian males? Does the use of the colour of skin add emphasis to the horrors of this tale?

Perhaps they were not Brazilian males! Maybe they were indeed "Black Men" from the countries that seem to specialise in drugs as can be seen in parts of Bangkok. These type of people get everywhere and why not Brazil. I think Thai women know the difference between brown and black!

The skin colour of the perps is totally irrelevant to whether or not they were Brazilians (a large proportion of the Brazilian population is of African or mixed ancestry) and it's also irrelevant to a news story. At best it may be relevant to the police conducting the investigation. But it has no place or value in a news story. Last week, here in Singapore, the headline was 'Caucasian passenger beats taxi driver'. Can you see how that is both irrelevant and offensive?

Time to come off the PC soapbox, back away from the computer, look in the mirror, and recite: "I've been brainwashed"

To Kilgore,

Sorry but you have lost me. I do not see the connection between a common phrase and your black friends. To " Call a spade a spade" is to talk openly and honestly about a topic. Please enlighten me!

You would not protest if the article said "3 white men", "3 Middle Eastern men", "3 Japanese ... 3 whatever... ", so why should the three black men qualify for exemption? Besides, it helps short the list of suspects by a few million. Call a spade a spade. Who knows, maybe the news may get out to another individual who has been similarly abused by three black men, which could prompt them to come forward and eventually lead to capture of the felons.

I would...

Ridiculous petty pathetic you would/are

So, Chuckles, please explain how it would be relevant if it said 'three white people'. No-one, it seems, can muster the logic to answer the question rather than resorting to insults and throwing about that old saw, 'political correctness'. If the article said, 'three Canadians' or 'three Nigerians' then it would be relevant. Get it?

Exactly my point. Throwing around 'PC' without really knowing what it means. Repeating, for the 6th time, and still waiting for the answer... what is the RELEVANCE of skin colour in this story.

I wonder what Mr. T's role in all of this was?

Isn't it obvious? He and his proxies created the economic and cultural conditions which led to these poor women feeling the need to go abroad to increase their income. Thus he is ultimately responsible for what happened to them.

Sheesh. Ye be an amateur at this, sir.

I give up. I have no hard feelings against the people here (except, perhaps, the small minority who constantly trash Thais and Thailand), but I've got to get some work across to a Chinese client before I have a late lunch with an Indian Sikh friend. smile.png [And that will be my final allusion to RELEVANCE]

Who cares about the description.

I just want to know what happened to Ms. C and following that link up the chain.

...assuming it happened the way the way Ms. B said it did.

It is extraordinary, the facility with which Thai officialdom manages to "rush to the scene" - no matter a murder, a drug bust, a kidnapping or a simple domestic contretemps, policemen, immigration officers and sundry officials always manage to hasten there with alacrity. This is particularly surprising in that it invariably takes place out of the sight of foreigners: name me the farang who has seen a copper move at more than stroll speed and I'll show you a bar girl who can pronounce her "r"s.

To Docno

Perhaps the young lady did not notice what jeans they were wearing and did not think to ask what they had fro lunch. She gave the description that she remembered after being raped.Fair enough as far as I am concerned. Next time she should not look in the face of the man presumably on top of her and instead try to look at the trousers around his ankles and aslo try to determine from the smell of his breath what he had eaten. Sorry but I think you should rethink!

You remind me of one of my ex wives when she was menstruating. Could not speak for fear of upsetting her. Black could not be black and white could not be white. It had to be laced with bullshit because she was so so very tender. Like walking on egg shells. ... Pathetic

Not real quick on the uptake, I guess. Derivative as it may be, I'll re-post Nisa since Nisa did it more artfully, and you managed zero response to it.

"If we are going to be politically correct then the story should also not mention it took place in Brazil and it should not mention the victims were Thai or female or that the accused were males. Probably also not a good idea to mention the victim had a job since this could somehow be seen as indicating she was a good citizen and this would suggest an unemployed person is not. "

There.

Sheesh. Ye be an amateur at this, sir.

I am sure that some females from a S.E.Asian country with a name beginning with T., were already travelling abroad in order to increase their income long before Mr.T. came on the scene.

However since Mr.T. is known to be living abroad, screwing people and still making even more money, there is more of an incentive for others to copy this M.O.

Who paid for the trip? I doubt a young Thai girl would pay the plane ticket and go alone to Brazil for one week. Seems to me that his could have been easily avoided if she had some common sense.

COMMON SENSE? we dont do that in Thailand

Which one would that be? The Black, the White or the Mulatto? Come on, the public has a right to know all the facts.

So the skin colour of the rapists is irrelevant to the story, and should be left out. ---- It may also shock you to discover that as newspapers traditionally had limited space, that cutting non-essential facts is crucial and plays a huge part in the traditional news writing style.

Now... please apologise to the class for being such a dunce and insulting people smarter than you, or we'll have to put you in the corner.

Oh and thanks for edifying us on the history of writing with economy, and how that informs your little rules. Nice to know you're thinking in the right media paradigm nowadays.

Yes, yes. Everything that is irrelevant to the story should be kicked out from the article. It doesn't matter whether she was 24 or 23, so why to mention the age? Even this doesn't make difference if the victim was man or woman. How does it matter if she went there by airplane or by boat? What is the difference if she was invited there for a week or for two weeks? Even the fact of invitation should not be mentioned as it is completely irrelevant. It doesn't change the story if she went there not by invitation but for a holiday. And why it is mentioned that she was forced to carry drugs in her vagina? Would it make difference if they would demand to carry the stuff in anus?

World is degrading. So much noise in one article.

don't get me wrong this woman seems to be straight up, but I do wonder how many women use this excuse when they get nicked at customs for doing something the fully knew they shouldn't. Not in this case but in certain other 1's it seems difficult to see the wood for the trees.

While you have a valid point and the answer to your question is actually ...a lot use this excuse. However, my thoughts went the other way and wondered how many of these girls who use this kind of excuse are telling the truth.

You are the dunce around here if you really can't see how a description of the assailants is relevant to a crime story.
