Don't rent your own car - take a taxi, or rent a van and driver.

I think you have misunderstood the question, he has a car, he wants to rent it out.

Insurance, doesn't cover extra wear and tear, mileage in excess of normal use, etc.

I would think very hard about this idea.

I wouldn't lend out my car, never mind rent it.

Scooter yes no problem,a lot less capital.

Good luck

"Does anyone know if there is a special car insurance you need to rent out your own car,"

As far as I know hiring out your car is specifically prohibited on domestic insurance contracts and doing so would probably invalidate all the cover. You would have to pay extra to get special rental cover, and your broker or agent can tell you about this.

I suspect that many of the vehicles hired out around Pattaya do not have full rental cover.

Your vehicle does not need special plates though.

A Thai friend of mine did just that and those who hired it from him never returned it, no car, no insurance payout and still the installments to make. Your own insurance would not cover hiring the car out.

Not a very good idea.

I am only wanting to rent out my car to people who are renting out my villa, maybe 1-2 weeks at a time!my insurance company say first class insurance which i have already covers me,but talking with two other agents they say have to pay extra for renting out!

you should go to your insurance agent and tell them to upgrade to commercial rental insurance code 120

There will be extra cost but its worth it.

You will then be able to rent out your car legally and sleep at night

!st, ask your insurance agent, bet he'll say, yes.

2nd, you might have to re-register your car as a yellow plate commercial vehicle.

Mac

1st, yes;

2nd, no. Rental vehicles are on white/black plates, not yellow plates.
