Sakaeo Welcomes Tourists to See Traditional Parades

Sakaeo (สระแก้ว) Province is hosting the fair entitled Dok Kaeo Baan Buang Burapha Bucha Luang Por Tong (ดอกแก้วบานเบื้องบูรพา บูชาหลวงพ่อทอง), together with a grand traditional parade. The fair has already welcomed a large number of visitors. Sakaeo is an eastern boundary province, located 220 kilometers from Bangkok.

The Sakaeo Provincial Governor, Mr. Somboon Sripattanawat (สมบูรณ์ ศรีพัฒนาวัฒน์), said this festival is combining two events together, which are the annually held Dok Kaeo Baan Buang Burapha and the traditional Buang Burapha Luang Por Tong. Therefore, this year’s event is being held grander than the events over the previous years.

Mr. Somboon added that many activities are being organized here, while the private sector and the government have worked well together. Nine districts and one sub-district of Sakaeo Province have also jointly arranged a traditional parade, which has impressed many tourists and visitors there. The Lertlumnumvithi (เลิศล้ำนำวิถี) traditional parade has reflected the traditional and peaceful ways of life of the local people in Khao Chagun (เขาฉกรรจ์) District, as they are living by His Majesty the King's initiation of self-sufficiency. Thus, visitors will be able to see the authentic traditions of Thailand in this event.

Mr. Somboon stated that Sakaeo Province also has many other tourist destinations to offer like the Pang Seda (ปางสีดา) National Park where you can find at least 350 species of butterflies. You can visit the unique provincial border area near Cambodia and Indo China. Further, you can buy lots of goods at Rong Klua (โรงเกลือ) Market, as it is the biggest market in the border areas of Thailand.

Moving back to this event, it will be held until February 20th. For more information, please call the public relations of Sakaeo Province at 0-3742-5066-7, or the local TAT office at 0-3731-2282, 0-3731-2248. Please visit www.tat.or.th, or call the TAT's hotline service at 1672.
