A reminder to Thai Visa Forum members that tickets for Christmas Dinner at The Olde Bell British Pub are now on sale. Our traditional British Christmas Dinners have been a popular feature of the Christmas Season at The Bell for seven years now and are a must for those who want to enjoy Christmas Dinner in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. There are usually a grand mixture of tourists, expats, singles, couples (gay and straight) and families, and a grand mix of ages! It’s not a buffet and we aren't offering haute cuisine, but for good no-nonsense British food, we think we take some beating!

We have a choice of three sittings: Christmas Eve at 7pm, Christmas Day at midday – which is a family orientated occasion with a number of children (including our son Billy who will be charging round as usual!) or Christmas night at 7pm which is more for the grownups!

The Bill of Fayre is:-

Glass of Sherry and Gin/Vodka & mixer

- - - - - - -

Prawn Cocktail, Pate on Toast or Tomato Soup

Served with homemade bread

- - - - - - - - -

Roast Breast and Leg of Turkey or Thick Slices of Christmas Ham

with Roast Potatoes, Onion Mash, Brussels Sprouts, Carrots & Broccoli

& served with Sage & Onion Stuffing, Chestnut Stuffing, Gravy, Bread Sauce and Cranberry Sauce

- - - - - - - - -

Traditional Christmas Pudding served with Rum Sauce

- - - - - - -

FREE DRINK: A Pint of Chang or Tiger, large bottle of local beer, 175ml glass of house wine, or a Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Orange Juice or Pineapple Juice

-------------

Christmas Present: each table will be offered a token present from under the tree!

The cost of this package is 795 Baht, or 745 Baht if you buy your tickets before 21st December 2012

If you mention Thai Visa Forum at the time you buy your tickets, we’ll give you a half pint of draught lager or a 330ml bottle of local beer on the house! Cheers!

BTW, children under 12 are 395 Baht , Children under 5 are 195 Baht and toddlers 2 and under are free. These discounts are for the midday sitting only.

You can use your Visa or Mastercard to pay for your tickets if you wish, at no extra cost.

We are located on Loi Kroh Rd, about 300m form the moat next door to the Raming Lodge hotel and behind the yellow foreign exchange booth.

So what.. if it's selling, it's selling. He's not running a charity for lonely farlangs.

You could go to church; they're free.

(Don't laugh, that's a serious suggestion. I might make it to one again this year.)

£16 for a roast dinner and a bottle of Chang...my neighbour breaks his back in the rice field for 8 days for the same money....u must be havin' a laugh

So Pedr can take it that your neighbour won't be there then ? unless your going to treat him of course !

Pedr puts on a great meal, at a fair price, in a great environment and the fools still can't resist a cheap and stupid shot....

Ignore it Pedr !!!

Yeah, Pedr ignore it! It's a very fair price for a meal with so many imported items, generous portions and alcohol. Not to mention the excellent service and jolly atmosphere.

Some cowardly idiots just like to stir up trouble for people brave enough to identify themselves in anoymous forums. I seriously doubt nattydread would make the same stupid comment to you directly in person. Oh, Mr. Nattydread -- Pedr won't be "havin' a laugh" on Christmas day. He'll be too busy making sure all his guests have a great time!

haha natty dread good that you are caring about your neighbour.

for 8 days he would earn 2000 baht if he is a male and 16000 baht if a female

These are the new increased wages which went into operation at this years rice harvest for farm labourers.

The man wouild also have a bottle o whisky after each shift or ample bottles of whiskies actually to keep the men happy

and withouy thse offerings you would find it hard to find a worker.

Both female and males would be fed a lunch supplied by the person who is hiring them as you stated they earned a wage.

If they are are harvesting the rice field themselves for themselves ,like i do there is no wage only like you said a pretty sore back.

whats on offer is way overpriced on the premise that its Xmas and people will pay a premium to pull a cracker and eat a glorified Sunday roast

that is my opinion even though it differs from most of the posters above who are no doubt good friends of the proprieter

I hope you all enjoy your Christmas fayre and Seasons Greetings to you all

I will save my cash and spend it on a sumptious all you can eat buffet (including beers) at the Shandy La or the Happyday Inn..spelling changed to avoid mod intervention on behalf of a sponsor

So you think eating reasonably priced Xmas fayre in a cheerful pub environment is far less attractive than paying for over-priced but pretty-looking tourist junk food at a venue where you can mix with other pretentious tossers.

Fair enough, each to their own.

I can just imagine that buffet full of "Bah Humbugs".

Who told you that you can drink beer at the Shandy La or the Happyday Inn "buffet style"?

Actually considering those places are charging 1400+ THB p/p, The Olde Bell sounds like a bargain! I've been there once just recently and it seemed like a decent place. I would go again.

turkeys aint cheap here. I once attended a christmas dinner do at a place near grace school. cant remember the name. But do remember it was mediocre and embaressing as we were the only table indulging in the devils sauce.

We are talking about the same pub, aren't we?

Yes we are. I've had Xmas nosebag there a couple of times and it's excellent. And no, I have nothing to do with the owner.

is ther going to be a sing song,or is that mor for hofmanay,if not what songs wil be played

The sing-song is optional and happens by osmosis, its not part of the 'programme' but we pay all the old favourites 'White Christmas' 'I wish it Could be Christmas' by Wizzard 'Merry Christmas Everybody' by Slade or Chicory Tip and all the other old favourites! A couple of years ago everyone decided they wanted to sing Rod Stewart songs so a happy hour or so was spent singing along with Rod!!

By the way there are only 12 tickets left for Christmas Day at midday and only 18 left for the evening sitting, so do drop in and buy your tickets over the weekend as its first come first served form now on!
