Dementia -Treatment Where To Go In Bangkok

Featured Replies

A friend of mine is suffering from dementia possibly Alzheimer.

I need to find a good hospital / special care home respectively doctor in Bangkok and would appreciate to learn about any experience / recommendation .

For diagnosis and outpatient treatment this doctor at Bumrungrad is excellent:

Name: Dr. Ketchai Suavansri

Specialty: Medicine - Medicine, Internal Medicine

Neurology (Nerve)

Language Spoken: Spoken: English, Thai

Qualifications: Medical School:

- M.D., Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand, 1991

Board Certifications:

- Diploma of The Thai Board of Neurology, 1994

Fellowships:

- Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology Research Fellowship, University of Florida, College of Medicine and Affiliated Hospitals, USA, 2010-2011

Special Clinical Interests:

- Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology

- Alzheimer disease Day Time Location Tue 16:30 - 20:00 NS 16B (Neuro/Uro/Men center/Physical Med) Wed 13:00 - 20:00 NS 16B (Neuro/Uro/Men center/Physical Med) Thu 08:00 - 12:00 NS 16B (Neuro/Uro/Men center/Physical Med) Thu 13:00 - 20:00 NS 16B (Neuro/Uro/Men center/Physical Med) Fri 16:00 - 20:00 NS 16B (Neuro/Uro/Men center/Physical Med) Sat 08:00 - 16:00 NS 16B (Neuro/Uro/Men center/Physical Med)

Among other things he will rule out any treatable causes and confirm the diagnosis. He can also prescribe drugs that help slow down the progression (if it is Alzheimers) if the level of the disability at present is such that this makes sense.

If it gets to where constant residential care is needed, I have heard favorable things about this place in Bangkok:

Dear Sheryl,

thanks a lot...I took note of your advise

best regards Kalama

  • 3 weeks later...

Goldenyears as a residential home is still very basic if it is for a foreigner. Thailand really does lack a good EMI unit.
