Yingluck Enters 2013, The P M Has Made It Despite The Brickbats

Featured Replies

Well it could be the 'The year was important for PTP - not Thailand'

Which I guess makes your post look like a bit of an anti government rant......but you are of course welcome to your input and opinion

Thank you very much for allowing me to express my opinion. If my post is an anti-government rant (which you choose not to dispute by debate), yours is similar to a political party broadcast - i.e. propaganda.

But you see your rant is applicable to at least the current and previous governments, my comments are on topic, and certainly refer to Yingluck and her government only. I choose to celebrate success, you attempt to detract from it......nothing wrong with that...would look better if you could read and recall what you wrote is all.

I know what I wrote but you are just twisting what I said. I pointed out the reasons why I have reservations about the honesty & integrity of the current government - all on topic. I choose to be realistic about the current government's lack of success - not just add blind support. I actually like Yingluck (especially in comparison to her brother) but she is popular because she looks good, does very little right or wrong & leaves all the tough stuff to her henchmen.

Notice chalerm is not shown in the graphic. Wonder why?

I hope that this not surprises you... He's bashing skills are not proof of efficiency and not an expression of usefulness. It's a pity for the air he's breathing that could be used for more useful purposes...

Given her scant political savvy,...

I dunno, she seems pretty savvy to me. There surely must be a lot of people trying to manipulate her, but I don't think she could hold her position just by following other people's advice. She has to be able to choose which advice to follow. I don't think she's following her brother's orders, either.

My wife loves her. My barber hates her (hates her brother even more). I find her a very attractive person.

Your wife must be from the North or N-E, probably Udorn Thani. Your barber from Narathiwat or Pattani...

Your assuming she makes any decisions, she holds her position because she is good at following orders. If Yingluck started thinking for herself I think you would find her parties support would evaperate very quickly.

PS: I think Charlem isnt in the line up for the same reason he takes the lion share of the 3 month policy implemetations, because hes the fall guy when things go pear shape. A bit like the red-uniformed security officers in the star trek landing parties who always dies.

Year of the butterfly.... Thaksin returns

Oops sorry year of the snake

While your regional generalisation has merit, there are many exceptions. I know several in deepest Isaan who share his barber's sentiments. OTOH though I have travelled quite a bit through the southern provinces, I've yet to met a Thaksin supporter, though I'm sure they exist.

He doesn't show up in mirrors or on film.

Are you serious? If she wasn't following her brother's orders she wouldn't still be around.

You don't meet much of the electorate then..................

Phil old chap, the number of Thaksin supporters or even just Pheu Thai voters down South is rather small. You can meet millions from the electorate down there without meeting a Thaksin supporter. Now if our ozzieboy had said he didn't meet such people up North(-East) your question would be justified. As it is, you might have been blinded by the sun, or still suffering New Year after effectswink.png

I also wondered the same, perhaps it was a sort of Freudian slip,to let everyone know he is not expected to be around much longer?

Avuncular bile is quite a common problem at this time of goodwill and culinary excess.............

The graphic went only as far down as brains. sad.png

So why I'm not shown ?

Yingluck's greatest achievement is the failure to bring back Thaksin and for that we are both thoroughly grateful and look forward to another year of similar success.

.

Great work by Yingluck, to survive the first year was important for PTP and Thailand, she has managed to tread the difficult path of keeping the red shirt faction subdued, bringing the military onside, providing limited opportunities for the 'opposition' parties to gain any additional credibility with the voters, her insistance she will not get involved in the childish verbal mud slinging so well utilised by the opposition has surely added to her attraction.

More importantly Yingluck has remained popular and carries a broad base of support, perhaps not exactly based on her first year achievements, but her attempts to follow a path her supporters and the electorate agree on.

You might want to reread the article and rethink your position.

It shows here doing nothing other than another photo op and goes on to show where the true leadership is located.

The sad thing is, the cartoon above accurately depicts the chauvinistic sort of attitude that many of the people who praise her, have towards her. Any male politician leader who spent the year smiling nicely and leaving virtually every responsibility of importance to other people, would be roundly castigated as being weak and useless. But because she is a woman, some people feel this means she needs to be given special treatment, to not be judged by the same standards as a male leader would, to effectively be treated like a little kid or a puppy dog, given special dispensation, and rewarded with plenty of head pats for successfully undertaking the most basic of tasks.

It may come as a shock to some men here, but woman are actually perfectly capable of possessing all the same leadership qualities present in some men. Women don't need to be treated differently or judged by completely different standards. Doing so is both sexist and patronising to all women.

The purpose of a PM/President is 99% presentation and 1% implementation - get with the programme guys

Assuming this remark is on topic (i.e. PM Yingluck) I consider this a demeaning, bordering on insulting remark. Our PM has been activily involved in handpicking her cabinet, giving directions and being involved in many policies and business meetings to help make Thai happy.

indeed, so, who comes up with the 99% worth presenting?

You are correct on one part Rubl, the meetings are frequent, where Yingluck delivers a presentation of policy to be implemented by the recipients, as for demeaning I would say the same 99/1% goes for every top leader in the world, so my comment is rather a compliment I think.......... Thai at Heart did you read the first page? notice a little picture or two, in fact I think 10 in all, surrounding Yingluck!! Every leader relies on support at all levels, and clearly the path Yingluck has travelled has erred on the side of caution, prompted by experience garnered from those who travelled a similar path previously, she has come through her first year well.

HelloDolly..................if you really have come to the conclusion that world leaders make all their own policies and decisions without taking on board constant daily, sometimes hourly advice.......and in some cases straight forward direction.....you should not be commenting on poitical threads at all....

Mirrors, I like mirrors, look in to one every now and again.

Gerry Anderson created more realistic puppets...... and the lip-sync was better.

Ideed Thaddeus you should have him eject some good witty humour into your scribing......its a bit saai.gif
