True Move H

Featured Replies

Hi all

just put true move h internet on my galaxy tab. .but to get an internet signal i have to have the roaming on. This dosent seem right to me am i doing somthing wrong.copied the apn and pass word of the packet. .The other thing is how can this be 3g i thought 3g would be fairly fast.done a speed test got 23 . Still its a bit faster than ais. . .

Cheers

Roaming is correct, trueh uses cat network. Speed varies depending on location.

If you're outside True-H (& Cat My) coverage area you will roam onto True.

Try changing your settings to WCDMA ONLY rather than GSM/WCDMA auto. See if that gets you locked onto True-H rather than roaming onto True.

With TrueMove H is is advisable to enable roaming as this will allow you to have legacy TrueMove 1800 Mhz GSM coverage in those areas where there is no TrueMove H 850 Mhz signal. This of course results in having only GSM data (low speed, 2G:GPRS/EDGE) when roaming, but does give seamless coverage as TrueMove H's coverage is far less than TrueMove. So you can make/receive voice calls - you'll have to enable roaming also in the text messaging configuration to allow for the receipt of SMSes when roaming. Forcing 3G is a bad idea. And you do not need roaming enabled to roam onto TrueMove H-enabled CAT towers, and you cannot roam onto any non-TrueMove H CAT enabled towers, yet.

TrueMove H offers less coverage that CAT as the legal issues have prevented them from offering access to all of the CAT-enabled towers.

My best guess is that you are outside of TrueMove H's coverage area, or have mis-configured the APN (even though that should be baked-in to the SIM and not require any manual configuration), or have not subscribed to a plan, or perhaps have hit your fair-use speed limit of 128 Kbps.

Did your Tab work acceptably on other networks? Where are you located? Did you subscribe to a TrueMove H plan? If so, which one?

I am in somdet , kalasin. It worked fine on ais in bangkok but up here way to slow. I read about true move h thought i would give it a go. My wife bought it for me 699 b 300 mbs. .i did get 129 once today so its ok. .

My best guess is that you do not have TrueMove H coverage in your location. So you'll have to make do roaming on TrueMove for 2G, which may net speeds in 180 Kbps range.

Do others nearby get 3G from TrueMove H. Can you download an app from the Play Store like Open Signal Maps, or Network Signal Info, to get a feel for what's available?

Did you subscribe to a data plan? If so, which one?

Someone who can read Thai can review the coverage map at TrueMove H just to see if you are close to coverage. If near the Amphur Somdet then maybe a chance, if a few Km away maybe not.

What tablet exactly, it may not have the 3G - 850 MHz band required for True H.

This was the case with my Original Galaxy Tab 7 inch.

Foreign versions may also vary.

I think it should be a P1000T to work on True.

Eg 850/2100mhz 3G.

If no T then yours is 900/2100mhz 3G.

sent from my Q6

Yes, based on the fact that the OP said "worked fine on ais in bangkok" and "in london i get speeds from 3megup to 6 meg on 3g", it seems safe to assume that this device is 900/1900/2100 MHz 3G capable so it would not work with TrueMove H (850 MHz) or DTAC/Happy (850 MHz).

I sort of assumed it was a quad-band Tab like the 10.1/8.9.

Also, given the distance from Amphur Somdet there is likely no 3G available from TOT (2100 MHz) or AIS/One-2-Call (900 MHz).
