Pro Camera & Filming Gear In Phuket?

Featured Replies

Can anyone please advise if there are any pro camera shops which might stock mounts & accessories for DSLR cameras?

Thanks in advance.

I was looking for a new camera for a few months and did not encounter any real professional camera shops.

If there is not any other suggestions, then a good starting point would be the Central Festival / Home pro cluster. They have all the major camera shops there. Photo hut, Big Camera, Canon (only display, not to buy) and Sony shops. Even Home Pro have some cameras.

what do u mean by "real"

the camera shops in central have all one usually needs except parts

for that u need go to Bangkok

There are several camera outlets in Central Festival, including an actual Canon dealer who carries the full range of cameras, lenses and accessories.

I mean real expertise of the camera specifications beyond how many megapixels a camera have.

Ability to talk to the customer and find what are his/hers need and give an good recommendation based on the talk.

Well trained employees who are proud of their knowledge. Professionals on cameras, not only on sales.

Photo Hut seemed to be best of the shops mentioned earlier.

u wont find any shops in Thailand where the staff know anything about what they are selling. Get ur information online BEFORE you go to the shop

There are some rare ones, but those are quite often 1 or 2 persons shops, not the mega shops.

You are correct. First find on the net what is good (and ask for advise), then go to the shops to look for the availability. It's time consuming work.
