Hi i have a retirement visa which is valid until September 12th 2013. My next 90 day report is 6th March.

I will be traveling to the UK late january and returning late February and during my stay will obtain a new passport as my current one will only have one full page left after i obtain my re-entry stamp.

When i return to Thailand i will enter on the new passport (and will have the old one in my possession)

My questions are.

1. When completing the new arrival/departure card do i complete it using the information from my existing visa which will be on the old passport.

2. Will i get stampted in until the date of expiry on that visa.

3. Will my local immigration ( Samui ) simply transfer the visa from old passport to new.

Thanks for any help in advance

If your current passport has a page left after re-entering, why not simply enter on your old passport and then go to immigration, where they will transfer your visa details?

The old passport will most likely be "cancelled". That's what they do with Aus passports.

The old passport is automatically cancelled when the new one is issued

Make sure that you have purchased a re-entry permit.

1. On the arrival card, write the number oon your re-entry permit, not the number on your visa. Write "re-entry" next to it.

2. You will get permission to stay to the expiration of your re-entry permit which should be the same as your current permission to stay.

3. Take both passports to Samui immigration and they will transfer the permission to stay stamp from your old passport to your new passport. This process is free, no tea money required. It took 1.5 pages in my passport.

uptheos - When he gets his new passport, his old passport will be cancelled, so the stamp will mostlikely be in his new passport

Sorry about that. Unfortunately my browser no longer gives me a message that there have been additional posts so that I can read them before I hit the POST button so I only see what ever's there before I start writing and I am slow and getting slower!
