The previous boss wouldn't have had this issue.

The new one was parachuted in by PTP complete with a Damapong on the board.

As I posted earlier on the state of this airline---last week a regular poster who is in denial to most Thailands probs stated that -the airline had brilliant profits over the last 8 YEARS. I said at the time "where have the profits gone ????....the air safety record was at an all time low, 2nd hand planes were bought from top carriers who no longer need them, usually through age .

Thai have the A380....just wonder if they are on credit or paid for with CASH through the 8 years of profits.

These Thai workers seem to be asking for normal % increases so what is the problem----if paid I also think ---LES PERKS for the VIP hangers on.

Just think of the high prices paid for tickets. example--udon-Bkk Thai7000+ bht return

Air Asia--Nok....3,500. 50 min flight really Thai---you are robbing the customer,

Can't comment of the profit/loss statement of Thai...but surely market forces dictate airfares.......fly Air Asia...no brainer

Do you understand that stock holders in effect are providing capital for TG?

This capital is usally obtained at a lower cost than funding from financial institutions. If the stock holders do not receive some return on their investment, they will start dumping stock. If stock is dumped, the airline will be impaired. Those stock holders run the range from pension funds, to investment funds to private investors. Do you understand that if the pension funds do not generate a return on their investments, that they will be unable to pay the retirees that collect the pensions? What of the life insurers that invest policy holders money so that there will be funds generated with which to pay claims and future obligations on annuities?

The airline is generating sufficient income that it can justify a small dividend, and the stockholders certainly have a right to a return on their investment. IF TG loses access to the stock market it will be forced to assume higher borrowing costs.when it turns to conventional lenders.

All true in a competitive market,,,but when the company is a quasi governent institution the reality is different...the tax payer wears the losses....the old capitalists dream....capitalise your profits...socialise your losses.

You can fly Thai or fly AA or Bangfkok or Nok or for that matter Orient thai - it is YOUR choice but I agree Thai DOMESTIC has dropped severely in service and fares are NOT cheap.

I fly Bangkok Air for the same or CHEAPEr with Full baggae and service which is good.

AA and Nok are competitve dependant upon your needs for badg or no bag.

Thai International is dropping in service too as I fly about 15 flights a year (yes too many) and some of the CJEAP{ER airlines are giving BEtter deals and more in flight servies and NOT using cruddy old planes like tThai.

People FLY THAI expecting what they were once upn a time not so long ago.. almost Like Singapore Air and now they are worlds apart.

Siorry thai but you have good staff and SHIT planes and rules. And this is from MANY flying hours international and Domestic.

I choose NOT to FLY THAI domestic because it is now so bad even for 1 hour.

Why don`t you tell us what you really think?

A totally financial illiterate statement. Most companies the world over have debt and particularly airlines that have to make large investments in fixed assets in the form of aircraft in order to generate future earnings. The restrictions on paying dividends apply to companies with retained losses and that dividends can only be paid out of current or retained earnings not capital reserves.

The problem with this airline is that there are two many stakeholders: government shareholders; minority shareholders; staff; the air force; and corrupt politicians. Generally the government, the corrupt politicians and air force get the upper hand at the expense of the minority shareholders and the staff. The accounts must look like a black hole and the auditor general's office doesn't dare to look too closely at them, not to mention the massive bribe paid off the book for aircraft and engine procurements.

It's high time the government sold down its stake to make it a genuinely privatised business and flushed out the parasites.

Oh well, I guess THAI will just have to put their fares up........ again.

They are already amongst the most expensive, i have been a Thai frequent flyer for years now, but have stopped using them because of this. Recently looking at a ret tkt to UK. Thai Air 909.40 UK pounds. Malaysian Air 575 Uk pounds. A friend has just flown London-Phuket with Thai 600 UK pounds. (all ret fares) Not so long ago i was told that senior staff with Thai are all getting free 1st class tickets to just about anywhere. Thai should stop all these 1st class freebies. If they want free tkts tell them to go cattle class or stay home. If Thai cannot afford to pay their workers decently, why can they give away all these free seats to their "hi so" employees and hangers on !
