Air Asia are cheap and cheerful and I buy my tickets on-line no problem BUT coming back from penang they are an hour late - mild annoyance at this price - and landing in terminal two at Bangkok we walk pretty ###### quick to get ahead of the game in the immigration queue...

and the ever so nice Thai lady immigration officer tells me after about a QUARTER of an HOUR in the queue that airasia passengers have to go through immigration in TERMINAL ONE!

I explain that the Thai girlfriend is in the queue over there for Thai citizens and if I walk all the way over toTerminal 1 I will probably never see her again... she hums and ars with her colleage next door and with a reluctant scowl relents.

Sorry, so Thais on airasia can exit terminal two no problem but everyone else has to go to terminal one!

They have signs that clearly point the way for AirAsia immigration when going through the corridors of BIA after disembarking...also, what would have been so painful in both you and your TGF leaving your respective queues and walking over to Terminal 1 together?

It makes perfect sense to me, AirAsia's formalities for coming and going are both done in Terminal1, same as most other cheap airlines and if you'd have had checked-in luggage, it would have come out in Terminal 1 also.

In terminal 2 the last trip, the woman behind me in line read the sign and kind of freaked since our flight number wasn't on it. I told her not worry as our flight landed into terminal 2 which was also on the sign. Then I wondered under what circumstances someone would try to come through that line without flying into terminal 2. Now I know it means flights supossed to land into terminal 2, and not those that actually do.

Did not see the signs as I was not looking for any, as it was beyond my comprehension that there would be an actual immigration counter for Air Asia as I am used to getting off international flights and heading for the shortest queue., esp not a queue in another terminal. I was in a bit of a hurry as I wanted to catch a domestic flight, BTW. Live and learn. And I always carry handbaggage only on flights so no need to hit the baggage collection area.

BTW the girlfriend was not the only Thai going thru immigration in the normal Thai queue who I recognized from the flight, no problem for them!

I use Air Asia quite a lot on domestic routes and accept the delays as part of the low cost, no problem, but they should highlight the immigration procedure when you book on-line and in the confirmation email - it would cost them almost nothing to do so and forewarn travellers.
