What is your home country? Where are you now?

What are you going to do here?

I am 26, from and in England. I will work online but only to attend to a business registered for tax in UK.

Khop kunh mak krap

You are going to be sorry you said that LOL

I will hand you over to the "thrown in Jail and deported" brigade, who will advise you accordingly.

Triple entry tourist visa. Apply just before you leave to get maximum number of days. You can get almost 270 days with 2 border runs and 3, 30 days extensions. Now over to the "thrown in jail and deported brigade", because you can't legally work in Thailand without a work permit which you cnan't obtain on a tourist visa.

What happens when the 270 days is up? How long until I can return again?

Re being arrested and deported, the work I do will be minimal and just checking up on things, via VPN. Am I likely to get caught/penalised/have to bribe someone? :P

Thankyou for your replies

You can leave the country and apply for another TV at an embassy or consulate in a neioghboring country and come back, takes 1 day. However, currently you can only get doubles locally, but who knows what will be available 9 months from now.

I would choose the Education Visa as long as that is available

The best start in Thailand, especially when you want to stay a long time is to learn the language.

I regret i did not do it from the start.

If you stay long enough changes you meet someone outside of the tourist bar scene especially if you know some Thai is rather big.

Who knows, you might be able to continue living in Thailand on a marriage visa. :)

And if you stay very long you can switch to a retirement visa.

Is that scenario long enough?

If you don't mind leaving the country every 90 days, you could get a 12-month visa from Hull Consulate in UK. Leave and return just before the 12 months is up and you'll get another 90 days. So you can get 15 months stay in total (leaving every 90 days). Very easy to get. Was a 2-hour service if you go in person, next day service if you apply by post. When I applied (2010), no need to show money or anything else. just one very short and simple form. I think you may need to leave and return by air every 90 days, although not totally sure.

Heck if you do not mind leaving every 15 days you can stay here nearly forever.....shack up in any border city to make the journey easier and voila!

Just rent a condo for a year and get a triple/multiple entry tourist visa with the rent aggreement from hull thai consulate. You can stay with a triple/multiple entry tourist visa nearly a year here.

But best is applying to a language course to get a year educational visa through them and learn some thai this way as you want to stay here for long term.

You can work in thailand legally through online as long as you do not get paid by a thai registered company and pay tax in uk.

My guess it is an Education visa as the Visit friends visa is no more, but I am not sure Hull will issue Multiple Education Visas and if they do, the OP still needs to enroll in a school as Hull (or any other Consulate / Embassy) definitely want to see proof that he is studying.

He does not appear to qualify for this.

Absolutly not true, you need a workpermit.

Get an ED visa and study Thai, this will give you a couple of years (have to renew the visa a couple of times)

It was a visit friends visa. I didn't realize it had been withdrawn. Just checked the Hull website, and it's not there.

Well, do but don't get caught!

Having said this, performing work online for other country is, IMHO, something that bears the lowest risk. Short of you going around telling every single Tom, Dick & Harry that you are doing this, and announcing to the whole world that you are doing this, I can't imagine there will be policeman who will come and raid your house, or hack your computer for evidence and you get charged and deported.

Has anyone come across or heard of anybody who gets deported due to the above?

Posted

Did you ever come across a person who died or got injured while crossing the street when there was a red light?

Me neither.

There is also a 180 day rule. Once you stay longer then 180 days in Thailand, easy to proof, just look at the stamps in your passport, you should pay taxes in Thailand. Otherwise you have to show where your money comes from.

Of course the chance you get caught is small, but you only need one zealous immigration officer, policeman, border control and you are going to need a good story.

Im kinda in the same situation, I got a triple entry, in July in the US. Used it all up, visited some family in England for christmas/new years, arrived in Thailand on a 30 day stamp.
