I can never remember this: on tourist visa does the "extension of Stay permitted up to 18 Feb" mean that you can leave and re-enter on the last day indicated or the day before? Thx.

The date on the VISA itself determines before what date all entries must be made. Nowadays you can leave and re-enter on the day mentioned itself, but it is always best to do it a day early. Cars do brake down, etc. etc and in the end it is the interpretation of the offcial that counts.

An extension of stay ends at the end of that date. If you have more than a single entry visa you can leave anytime during that date or before and return on the next entry.

Wonder why immigration just doesn't use the "....through 18 Feb" to help reduce vagueness. Too many stamps would have to be replaced maybe.

To me using the "through" word instead of the "up to" phrase would make it much clearer regardless of whether they really want you to leave before 18 Feb or its OK on 18 Feb. But everything I've seen in posts is "up to" includes the date (i.e., 18 Feb, through 18 Feb).

Pib, but for me (a Non English Speaker) the through "word" is more confusing. For us it would be better if they use "ends on" or "last day is"

If you want to get technical and totally correct, it should be "until 1159pm (or 2359 hours) on __________". Too early for this BS!

for a 1 month extension on a TV, i have been told in the past you can go anytime a week prior to expiry, but will they extend it from the last day of your TV, or the day you go? (In this case admitted until 18 April). (And if I do go on the 18th Apr, will the extension be until 18 May? Just trying to book a flight at the moment). Thanks.
