I've lived in Thailand almost a year. My stay is long term and in the next month or so if like to start looking at my options for adopting a puppy.

My partner and I are looking into a large breed such as German Shepard and husky. We prefer large, intelligent, fluffy breeds.

We live less than an hour outside Bangkok in the rangsit area. I've seen the puppies at chatuchak, but I've heard the dogs can be sick and the owners usually look mean. I'd prefer adopting from someone whose dog accidentally had a litter, not a dog slaved into creating profit.

I'd appreciate it if anyone knows of anyone who might have a litter of pups that I'd be interested in. While we're willing to pay adoption fees, we are not interested in paying some of the outrageous 15-35kBht fees I have seen. I'd rather invest that money on the puppy and not towards a greedy business.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Brittany

PS, we have a large house and yard, I only attend school two short days a week and my partner works 3 minutes away so we are more than able to care for a large breed. We owned a Shepard years ago in the states and miss being dog owners.

Do really look specifically for these breeds or can it be also a mix of one of these breeds or another intelligent medium-large to large fluffy coated mixed breed?

And does it have to be a puppy or can it be a slightly older dog? In both cases it requires considerable education.

With 'adopting' a puppy from an oops-litter you actually support the irresponsibility of the owner/s of such a litter (of course there are exceptions), imo.

If you look specifically for a husky or a GSD I understand and respect that. Can't help you much there, I'm afraid, though.

But if it can be a mixed breed I suggest to look for the rescue places. Hundreds of dogs are looking for a good home. Especially the ones rescued from the dog meat trade are in huge need of being taken out of the shelters where they are living now and finding a new loving homes.

If you are interested, please, feel free to send me a pm.

There's a breeder of German Shepherds at Pak Chong. I believe that they sell puppies for around THB5,000.

You would be lucky to get one of that breed cheap or free.

I have a year old dog who is looking for a home is you are interested. He is medium sized, not big, and his hair is slightly fluffy. He is very intelligent and friendly. He has a lot of energy too, so a yard would be a good thing for him. My roommate took him in for a guard dog, and then left a week later. He is not much of a guard dog, though he will bark while he hides behind you. He has had all of his shots and is neutered. I am leaving for Vietnam soon, and hoping he will have a new home with a good family before that. If you are interested, let me know. I would even be glad to help with transportation costs. Thanks.
