If you are a tourist you can apply for the tourist visa. But you have to proof you are eligable.

I dont think you are into business in Thailand after having read your OP, if so you cant apply for that.

The type of Thai Visa 'fitted for you' depends on your motivations to stay there for 1 year. So..

Simple answer..

my brother is living and working out there i have saved up enough to live out there purely as a tourist just to travel around Thailand.

so looking on the best advice to stay out there for 12~18 months, that will involve as little hassle as possible.

would you recommend the triple entry?

You will join the main-stream back to back visa runners by the sounds of it.

There is no Visa that entitles you to stay for 18 Months.

Start off with the triple entry visa is your best bet, then worry about it in 9 months.

PS: Your brother should be knowledgeable enough if he lives and works here..

Save yourself the service fee and VAT and instead get your triple-entry tourist visa directly form the Thai consulate in Hull by mail. Click on Visas and Downloads, then, if you have Microsoft Word on your computer, click on Aba Visa Application Pack. If you don't have that program, post so here and I shall make a PDF file of it and post it. You can also use another Thai consulate in the UK, if you like.

You didn't mention your age but if you happen to be over 50 years old, look also at the possibility of a non-immigrant visa category O for "visiting Thailand as retired person".

Once you are in Thailand and your stay based on the visa from the UK is expiring, check here on this forum for the best Thai consulate in the region to apply for a new double-entry tourist visa (triple-entry visas are not available in the region). At the moment it would be Vientiane and Savannakhet in Laos, but things can change.
