What Vaccinations For 6Mth Old To Thailand?

Featured Replies

Just wondering what vaccinations others had gotten for their children to travel into Thailand? Is it the same injections and tablets as adults get? My daughter will be 6mths old when we get there and its her 1st time to Thailand.

Thanks!

Travelling with a 1yr old, never got any extra vaccinations aside from the normal ones given at that age. Made sure to always to be conscious of any mosquitoes and take the appropriate precautions.

I think the mosquito issue is important for sure. Freaky such a small insect can cause major issues.

Yeah, even if there is no disease transmission, the itching from bites makes it difficult for them to sleep.

Any chance you guys know if the baby formula and diapers are different from the ones available in Europe?

Mainly in Bangkok and samui.

Formula is the same as here in Australia like s26 and the likes. Diapers would be the same also I'd say. Have a look at the thread about tips for parents, sorry if that's not the name but easy to find. Lots of good tips on it.

Hi,

in the last couple of years we have taken both of our babies, first one at 4 months and then later when she was two with a six month old sister, we were advised in uk just to have standards vaccinations, MMMR and BCG and both of the kids had at least one of their planned vaccinations in the village health clinic as we were there for a couple of months, UK kids have a medical history book which the health staff we met were familiar with. We'll be back again in June as we have a home out in Khemmerat.

It depends on where you intend to go but the advice about mosquitoes needs to be taken seriously, we had no significant issues, the locals sell nets specific for babies and the locals will give u lots of advice and even a local pharmacist i've always found to be very helpful.

PS baby wipes are ridiculously expensive!!!!! take a good supply with you.

Thank you guys. I was a bit worried but that is comforting to hear that all baby things are available.

She is European so I was a bit worried that the heat may be too much for her too since we are from a cold northern country but we will test her with a two week trip to Spain during the fall.

I will take copies of her medical records, blood type etc and register with Bangkok hospital once we arrive. And be weary of Mosquitos. Is this a problem on the islands? I thought it was mainly near Cambodia?

I will bring baby wipes haha thanks. Would be a sad thing to waste money on :-)

You will not be able to find any of the baby formula you buy in UK in Thailand. However, the selection of formulas in Thailand far exceeds what you can get in UK. S26 in Thailand is very similar to SMA, I used this brand as replacement for S26 when we relocated from Thailand and it worked like a charm.

Nappies? No problem there, you can find a couple of brands familiar in UK (Pampers, Huggies) and the biggest brand in Asia: Mamy Poko
