Motorcycle Wheel Rim Tape

Featured Replies

Hi guys, anyone know of anywhere in Phuket that sells Motorcycle wheel rim tape. Looked in the bike forum but mostly replies regarding areas other than Phuket.

Would rather replies on actual purchases rather than, 'here might or there might' as i'm aware of most the bike shops on the isalnd but don't fancy going on a wild goose chase and it's too chuffin hot right now!!!

Any info appreciated wai2.gif

If you mean the strip of rubber that goes around the inside of the rim to protect the tube from the spokes, we used to just cut up an old inner tube and use that.

Yes, that's how the bike repair shops do it. It's just a way of recycling.

Sorry...I was not aware of the tape you refer to. And to think after literally 50 years of riding bikes I only knew about the lead tape for balancing wheels. I must pay more attention. Did I say I was sorry? Tch

Yeah I would be interested in where to buy this tape as well.

I just purchased a bike here in phuket. it has the rim tape as pictured, but some is peeling off.

I would try:

1. Bike section at big supercheap (you will need to speak Thai)

2. Bike section at Big C near to central (but traffic there is now a pain in the arse with the tunnel)

3. The bike accessory shop on the Western side of Thep Krassatri road north of Satri school...

Thanks for the heads up on this place. They had exactly what i wanted even though they don't open till pm. Nice bunch of Thai bike lads outside who all greeted me with a wai which took me back a bit. They have one of the mechanics from Kawasaki working there in the evenings. Have all the gear for changing/fitting tyres and loads of accessories for all kids of bikes...
