Hello, I have been to Thailand about 15 times now, spent about 2 years of my life in total over there and have finally found a girl I am really keen on and want to have her in my future. She is a teacher, teaching English and Vietnamese and living in Mukdahan. She is Thai, 26 and I would like to bring her over here for a couple of weeks holiday. She is changing her job (moving schools) at the end of this month and has free time for the whole month of April before starting her new role teaching in a local school. My question is, would it be possible to arrange everything and for her to be over here within that time, before the end of April before her new job starts.

I believe I have to contact the Embassy in Thailand in order to get permission for this to happen. And also supply proof of our relationship and proof she will return after her allotted stay.

My preference is to one day live in Thailand and NOT live here in the UK. I travel in Thailand a lot, usually around the north and rarely, if ever, travel south to the tourist destinations, which usually incite all the bad stereotypes that Thailand is known for here.

Any suggestions or enlightenment would me much appreciated.

regards Stephen

I am moving this topic from the forum Thai visas, residency and work permits to the forum Visas and migration to other countries.

Have you got a police record ?

Not sure what that's got to do with a visit visa for the OP's girlfriend.

If you get an application in before the end of the week, then is a possibility.

Absolutely no reason why your girlfriend shouldn't be granted a visa to visit the UK for a couple of weeks holiday, many Thai people do so, but it's for her to apply for a visa to enable her to do so, not you.

Your girlfriend needs to apply, details of how to apply are here http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/countries/thailand/applying/?langname=UK English. She will need to convince the ECO that her proposed visit is genuine, affordable and she is likely to to leave the UK at the end of the visit.

If she is going to pay for her trip then there is no financial evidence for you to submit, if you are going to sponsor her then you will need to provide evidence of it's affordability and why you are doing so.

The most important part of such applications are the applicants ties with Thailand or "reason to return", as you girlfriend is a teacher, and can no doubt can get confirmation of both her old and new schools, then that's the biggest hurdle out of the way.

There is plenty of advice and experience of similar applications on this forum, have a read through them and this pinned topic http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/446602-uk-visit-visa-basics/ and feel free to come back if you have any specific questions.

Ignore the question about the criminal record, totally irrelevent.

Thank you very much for this clear and concise reply. I will look into your suggestions and go through to the link.

I think I will probably have to pay for her flight. I am always very wary of Thai females Regarding any kind of escape to 'treasure island' (lol) but getting Puttaporn to even accept money from me regarding helping with her job contract is something she takes a dim view of, she is of the 'keep it in the family' mould which is refreshing in that sense.

I don't know whether she will have time to do all this, bearing in mind she starts her new contract at a new school at the end of April. But it is worth a go. Otherwise I will next see her in December when I am out there.

If you ain't sure ,better you butt out.

As theoldgit says, a police record is totally irrelevant.

Maybe you should butt out as it seems you know nothing about UK visas.

I applied in January for a visitors visa, took 2 weeks from submitting application to having application returned.

Your girlfriend will have to apply in person at the Visa application centre Bangkok.

If you are paying for her flights and costs in UK you will have to supply financial details.

You will have to get application in by next week in order to book flights etc.
