We are considering buying the New 2013 Chevrolet Colorado C-Cab 2.5 LT model.

Does anyone have first hand experience of this New Colorado?

Does anyone have first hand experience of the Chevrolet dealer in Chiang Mai?

I want a new Chevy too! But I don't want to pay the ridiculous price for one. They are made by people earning 300 baht a day not $300 a day.

Engine is noisy. Like the auto gearbox and fuel consumption, ride is a little bouncy but that is easily fixed by changing the back shocks to Ranchos.

I bought the 4x4 z71 c cab no problems

6 speed auto

cruise control

cream leather

electric seat

projector lights

better looking in my view compared to Dmax

put in a Kenwood satnav dvd etc and r cam

I looked at the Vcross but brown seats and no firm delivery date played a part in my choice.

Good luck

On a side note.. Apparently the chevy factory here is a total dump.. The honda factory was described as hi-so in comparison a friends relative who has worked at both.

I've been on tours of Chevrolet and the Ford/Mazda Auto Aliiance factory and they seem pretty similar to me. I certainly wouldn't describe them as a dump. The new Ford factory where they build the Focus is nicer but you'd expect that as it just started operating last year.

I'd go with a manual transmission for a pick-up. I like the styling of the new Colorado, as well as the feel of the interior. Chevrolet can't really compare with Toyota (Vigo) in Thailand... it's not quite the "all-american" car manufacturer since Thais build/make it for the Thai market.

If a big part of the driving is down in town I would strongly disagree with that, and choose A/T.

Well, plenty of "South American" soul in it, considering it was penned in Brazil. The engines were designed in Italy, the chassis and running gear designed in Japan (Isuzu) - but the gearboxes, locker diff, and awful interior (subjective) are genuine Chevy stuff wink.png

What are the "pedigrees" for the Captiva & Cruze?

Indonesia - as was the Honda Freed, Toyota Innova and the Suzuki Ertigo.

What are the "pedigrees" for the Captiva & Cruze?

Captiva is pretty much 100% Daewoo Korea.

The Cruze was originally co-developed by Daewoo and Opel (the former doing the bulk of the work), and since it's initial launch has had some further engineering tweaks from GM Australia (Holden) and USA.

AndDoesn't it show. Honda Freddy, what a load of Crap It embarrasses the Sales Staff. Off Topic, but ive just driven the new Paj G.T. bit noisey, but it handles as good as a Lo Rider Toyo Weeeego. Best ive driven in that Class. Doesnt feel Trucky like a Fortuna., yet i suppose its a Blinged Triton, not sure though.biggrin.png

Buying manual gearbox is just simply wrong. A/T is great, and pretty much mandatory in Thailand.

Yeah, i won't deny that i do prefer an Automatic gearbox for modern traffic & roads. Manufacturers seem to be phasing manuals out one by one . . . my Dad hinted at this a few years ago: that manual transmissions will be something completely of the past pretty soon.

Wow, didn't realize how eclectic its origins were. A far cry from Chevrolets in America (i.e. Silverado) 55 . .

So, do the Isuzu D-max models and the Colorado share same Engines/drive-trains? ?

55 . . chevy interiors are plasticy & toy-like 5 5

In the previous gen D-Max/Colorado, the entire drivetrain was shared, but that ended in the current gen. The D-Max continues to use revised versions of it's previous gen engine but with a new transfer case on 4WD models, and the new the Colorado now uses (VM Motori designed) "Duramax" engines, with GM gearboxes.

If the Freed was price competitive against the Avanza and Ertiga it wouldn't be so bad - it'd still be ugly though ;)

Yep PJS still has noticeable diesel clatter when cold, but the interior noise suppression does a commendable job of keeping it largely out of the cabin.

Having now hit 2 dogs while cruising in near-silent 'sailing mode' in my hybrid (yep was on the horn too), it think there's a solid case for having an engine people and animals can hear coming...
