I am thinking of trying Aeroflot in business class back to the UK.

I remember reading that Aeroflot does not serve alcohol on its Moscow to Bangkok sector due to 'over-indulgence' by some passengers.

Does anybody know if this applies to business class as well? I would hate to pay all that money and not be able to enjoy a few G & Ts

Thanks

I flew Aeroflot business class a few years back and had no problem with the service and, as a surprise to TV posters I survived! The main problem is the wait in the "business class" lounge in Moscow, I suppose if you are Russian it could be considered good!

I have now decided to forgo the Aeroflot experience based on the reviews I have read on-line.

Most of the adverse criticism seems to focus around the transit period in Moscow where many passengers were 'forced' to camp out in the transit hotel with poor food and drink supplies, due to plane delays.

I have now booked with KLM for about 8,000 baht more (100,465 baht)

KLM business class???

EVA airways flies BKK-LHR direct business fully lie flat beds for 95K new planes B777/300ER

Can you confirm that the new aircraft are on the LHR route yet, the EVA website says later in the year?

For some reason I could not get the EVA website to work correctly. I could enter details but could not get the search to activate. Also Mox travel search did not come up with EVA for my dates

KLM gives me the option of flying out of London City Airport (flying in to LCY needs overnight wait in Amsterdam)

You might find that booking the leg BKK/AMS separate from the AMS to UK comes out cheaper, because avoiding the very high UK taxes for long distance flights in and out of the UK.

Also to consider is Oman Air at 89.000 Baht (see my review in the pinned topic above). Marvelous business class experience.

Good luck

Seriously. Aeroflot are this year's cheap airline for people like us. We have to fly 3 of us back to the UK during the summer holidays. As we all know this is NOT a cheap time. We are prepared for our experience as we spent a month in Russia in 2006 and spent 5 days straight (you only try this once) on a Russian train! Our friend who has been living in Moscow for the past 3 years has said that Aeroflot flights have improved greatly over the past few years, but Moscow airport is just like Yaroslavl station!

If I was flying alone outside the holidays I would spend the extra, but in our case the next flights up were 15% more and Egypt Air with MUCH longer layovers. After that it was 60% more!!! If you have the ability to make this kind of choice then make the choice to be routed another way, particularly for the Business class experience.

Whatever, for us, it is still better than walking!

I would be cautious about Aeroflot. I am an experienced traveller with over 1400 flights to 80-odd countries including many enjoyable stays in Russia from Moscow to Siberia. In one of my own flights from Europe to BKK, the connection was missed between flights at Moscow, and we were put into a transit hotel for 24 hours. Actually we were physically locked into a special floor with guards so that we could not even move around for meals without a guard. It's understandable because we did not have any visas to enter Russia, but you need to be able to stand up to normal Russian treatment. I would have enjoyed 24 hours in Moscow, but it was more like 24 hours in the twilight zone.

I flew Oman air economy a few years ago and found the the overall

experience was much nicer and more relaxing that Emirates. Dubai is a

zoo in comparison.

Just checked Oman Air business class for my dates (May-June 2013) and the price is 106,980 baht

I have just tried the EVA site again and have got the site to work by not booking on the home page, instead going to the booking page. Price for my dates came to 95,285 baht. Looks like EVA missed out on selling a ticket because of their buggy website.

Sri Lankan Airlines - I think about THB75K now, I paid THB63K/person, BKK/LHR/BKK via CMB, business class, lie flat seat/bed. We travel 22 Apr return 06 Jun.

Overnight CMB in both directions, limo at LHR arrive and depart, at UL expense.

I have done the overnight stay with Sri Lankan twice (economy class). If for example you have a 10 hour stay, you have to queue through emmigration, then you have to wait for everybody else staying to clear emigration, then you have to wait for the buses, then you have to be driven round all the hotels until it is your turn to get off. Then you check in for your stay, then 3 to 4 hours before your flight you have to get up, wait for the bus. queue to go through emigration etc. Not forgetting all the security checks. All this for about 3 hours troubled sleep in a mosquito filled resort hotel.

Never again.

Very interesting.

Will see how it goes in business class, they supposedly have the "Silk Route" where they sort out all the formalities while you sit and have a drink in their lounge.

Just another cultural experience.
