Thailand Urged To Redo Mobile Frequency Band

Thailand urged to redo mobile frequency band

Summary: Two international telecom organizations say country's plan to use 700 MHz band for digital TV broadcasting would interfere with neighboring countries' networks, leading to GDP and tax revenue losses.

By Ellyne Phneah

Two international telecom organizations have warned Thailand is at "extreme risk" of failing to comply with international frequency standards for mobile services, which may cause severe wireless signal interference along its borders.

This comes after the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) unveiled a roadmap to use the 700-megahertz (MHz) frequency for digital TV broadcasting, The Bangkok Post reported Tuesday. The 700-MHz band is used for mobile communication in Europe, Latin America, Asia and neighboring countries of Thailand, the GSM Association and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) said.

There has never been a second thought about revamping Thailand's broadband infrastructure or ANY sort of infrastructure for years, which is why we get random disconnections from the internet, mobile (NOT REALLY)-3G into EDGE Mode at some areas of Bangkok,

but those ministries aka MAFIAS, who collect all the taxpayers money, will only use it to enrich themselves, and just invest into campaigns in an attempt to delude the public and the International stage right after the motto "Oh, YES, we care so much, we're telling you, we are going to INVEST BILLIONS-TRILLIONS-KACHILLIANS of Baht in improving the infrastructure, and HAVE MEGA, MEGA MEGA Projects that really help the country and what not-haven't you ever heard-of...."

But reality is,.... the money goes right into their greedy pockets....

need I say more....

You acquire all those high tech technology, but the infrastructure for years now sucks.... and ZERO was invested in improving the quality of standards....

so don't be surprised that you continue to experience more random internet disconnections during peak evening hours, or mobile 3(-FAKE)-G going into EDGE mode and reeeeeaaaaalllllly a******snail-slow.... and if you live upcountry with even worst infrastructure,.... oh.... MY...... GOD......sick.gifsick.gifsick.gif

Comment above obviously knows nothing about the Thai telecommunications arrangements. The government is not in control of frequencies. It's the NBTC and the military. It has nothing to do with the fact that Thailand has no 2100 Mhz 3G service. In addition there is no such thing as fake 3G.

The fact that your phone jumps to EDGE was because the Thai carriers refuse to increase their 3G coverage because of the limited frequency made available for them to run 3G on the existing frequencies.

And again. 3G in upcountry is often better than in Bangkok. You get a much more consistent connection but with worse coverage. Ask this with people who've been I'm Chiang Mai or Pocket.
