We have a couple larger water features at our house. Due to a leak in the bigger pond, we found that we had some fish in it (much to my excitement). They got transferred to our shallower pond to repair the leak and now I can see them. I'd like to know what they are as I am planning to get more types that will get along well. These ones are about 5 inches long, narrow, with pointed fins and slightly bugeyed. Some are pale orange and some are silver with black fin tips. Any ideas?

There are at least two types. This is the best I could do with them being so flighty. The top is the orange ones, the bottom is the silver ones.

your bottom sketch looks like a Silver Shark...

...we had a few of these in our tank once. A popular aquarium fish especially in Thailand, they grow very quickly & can reach quite a size.

That's definitely the other type we have, they're quite lovely. Thanks everyone for your input! I have a really good start making sure they stay happy and healthy now :)

I have "rescued" fish for drying-out after the flood-water went down around our house in 2011. Might be you recognize the specie?

Those look very close to what we have. Thanks for the info.

They get to a fair size too

Which one Ambrosia?
The fish of the top sketch look a bit like the silver barb in the photo link. Some are orangish some are more silver. I think the pond guy is coming tomorrow to work on the big pond again, so I can ask him.
