Looking For Wifi For Bb Playbook - 1 Month Holiday

Featured Replies

Will be returning to Th in September for 1 month. I would like to use my Playbook to stay in touch with home by email and Facebook, etc. Also, I would like to make use of the map apps because I am always wandering around to take pictures, then forget where I was when I am reviewing the pics.

The Playbook does not use 3G, only WiFi. Is it possible for me to buy a 1 month package without being a cellular customer? I know I can always use MacDonalds' but then I eat too many Sausage McMuffins (Don't judge me, I like 'em smile.png )

Slightly related, any Bangkok or Thailand centric apps that you would recommend?

You might try 'piggybacking' to a phone. My wifi was poor in my condo so I started looking into it. Seemed feasable and I made some progress but then the wifi improved (I was amazed, I complained and they actually did something) and I dropped the idea. Now back in the UK it is something I intend to pick up again as it could be usefull in the future.

Yes, you can buy a month's access for 100 baht if you have TRUE or 3BB Hotspots nearby. Though you will need to splash out 49 to 69 baht for a SIM card to register initially.

If you have a Blackberry with OS6 or above, you can simply tether the thing.

Personally, I use one of these: o2-hotspot1.jpg

But I only paid £18 for mine, including the unlocking cost.

If you have an unlocked smartphone use it as modem with a local SIM card when you get here

Sent from my iPhone using ThaiVisa app

If you have a BB phone you can get a data sim for the phone and use BB Bridge.
