Dunno that is my ideal of a Saturday afternoon, but it is partly the strong opposition from conservatives and religous leaders which ensures it doesn't happen.

If gambling was legalised, the protection income would be much reduced. For that reason, probably nothing will change any time soon.

In addition to gambling in homes and shops, there are some big illegal casinos under the paid protection of certain authorities. I know of one that is a mecca for mia farang who like to show off how much money they can lose. These ladies wreak havoc at home by hocking house, land and vehicles and stealing to pay off their debts behind the backs of their husbands. Legalised gambling would probably make the problem worse.

I just think if it was legalised and regulated, as in other countries, the government would would be able to raise extra taxes and better manage gambling.

It goes on anyway. Prohibition doesn't work and never did.
