The article explains why there are numerous threads in the News-forum, with farang-posters doubting the wisdom or execution of this policy, which goes way beyond the previous more-modest policy of the previous administration.

It's not that anyone begrudges the poor-farmers a better income, or feels any sympathy for the super-rich rice-exporters, far from it, but that we can see the riceberg is a disaster-waiting-to-happen.

It has already seriously-disrupted the supply-chain, lost long-term overseas customers & the number-1-exporter placing for previously-good-quality Thai rice, and is running-up debt which the Thai people will be paying-for, long after the scam scheme has collapsed and the massive stocks of poorly-stored rotting-rice has been dumped onto the global-market, further depressing prices and increasing the loss to the Thai tax-payers.

But hey, it got the current-administration elected, so it worked, right ? wink.png
