Pheu Thai to hold 10 rallies to seek public support
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Pheu Thai Party is planning to hold 10 major rallies at different spots across the Kingdom in a move to seek public support for its bid to amend the Constitution and push through the Amnesty Bill.

Anusorn Iam-sa-ard, deputy spokesperson of the party, told the press Friday that the three-month House recess period would be used by the MPs to hold big rallies in different parts of the Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays to drum up support on the two issues. They will also explain the many political problems facing the government and the country.

Prominent speakers will include Chatuporn Chaisaeng, former deputy leader of now-defunct Thai Rak Thai Party; red-shirt leader Jatuporn Promphan; Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt; and Deputy PM Plodprasop Suraswadi among others.

Apart from the charter amendment and Amnesty Bill, the MPs and ministers will also provide information about the Bt2-trillion infrastructure loan and the Bt350-billion water-management project as well as discuss the conflict between the legislature and the judiciary.

The first rally will be held today at Udon Thani's Muang district followed by another at the Khon Kaen provincial hall tomorrow. Rallies are scheduled for Chiang Rai on June 1, Chiang Mai on June 8 and Rayong on June 15. No dates have been set for the South or Bangkok and its vicinity yet.

Pheu Thai to hold 10 rallies to seek public support

Anyone found not giving said support or found to be wanting to hold a separate opposition rally will have the crap beaten out of them by the PT stormtroopers and have their pictures put on a Facebook page entitled " this could be you , obey or else".

I wonder if the Pheu Thai party with so many party list MP UDD leaders, will ask those to take care of the security detail. Red shirt guards to show people where to go, what to do, etc., etc., and of course keep all less in favour of the amnesty plans at bay. We can't allow provocative questions by the uneducated and misguided, now can we? Those should shut up ans listen only.

Why not? Spend more of the publics money on propaganda convincing the red buffalo movement the PTP (a.k.a. Thaskin's chosen few) are looking after the interests of their country. More back slapping and high fives as Thailand slides down to a point of no return. But wait - the Baht is getting stronger - that must be from their incredibly wondrous (mis)management. Even if they can't explain now the rice scheme is backfiring from both barrels i.e. it only had a chance if the baht weakened, but now with a 6% swing the opposite way it is now a total disaster.

I could be completely wrong but I don't think there are many undecided voters in Thailand and with all the Thais I know it's very clear cut pro-Thaksin or most definitely anti. I would suggest these rallies are simply a response to Mr. T's " get it done " instruction and to whip up the red shirts who will be the only ones to attend. Look at the potential for this to get out of hand and it's all to satisfy just one man.

I note they are to be held in PT dominated parts of the country 'first' with no plan to go elsewhere at this stage.

Keeping it in home ground will mean that after the drop in support at the recent by-election if it looks like not enough will turn up they can always bus more faithful in to make the numbers look good.

It would be a shame it they went out of their comfort zone and had problems with non believers.

I also note that Jatuporn will be one of the speakers.

Does this mean that they don't have any MP's that know enough about Govt policy to be able to get up and explain it, even to the faithful?

So they have to hire a non MP for the job.

As I read this, I experienced a twinge of nostalgia for the good old days of TRT, it brought back memories of policemen caught on camera directing thugs to go beat up old men & small-children, or 'the heyday of true democracy' as we're now supposed to call it ! rolleyes.gif

Thank heavens all Thais are now rich, everything is rosy in the garden, and there's no need anymore to intimidate judges or opposition-politicians, as the populist government marches towards a golden future, led by its inspired True-Thinker ! Yay ! laugh.png

I wonder if the speakers will be Fair and Balanced and first explain the system of government and what place the constitutional court plays in ensuring a safeguard against dictatorship and how the constitutional court should be impartial favouring no side over the other and all decisions would be made on the basis of law and logic. And then would they be brutally honest why they want it abolished and how it will affect the future of all Thais and of Thailand for quite a long time.

I will not be holding my breath.

Simple. Hold rallies, whip up "support", show the indoctrinated masses approving and siding with PTP's versions on TV and in the newspapers.

Then PTP will argue no need for a referendum when the mass popular support can be clearly seeen. Also, I'm sure some of the rhetoric will be directed at the CC Judges - so again, adds to the imtidation threats.

The leader has clearly run out of patience and is upping the anti considerably.

I see it is in all ptp/red shirt dominated areas, maybe they will try to get these idiots to attack Bangkok to demand that thaksin gets his way. They are too gutless to try to go to anywhere else that they do not dominate, typical scumbags.

And you can be assured there will be no DP thugs that turn up to threaten and intimidate the red shirts that want to go and hear the rally. Why? Because they are not criminal scum that lower themselves to the levels of the red shirts. I bet if there was a hint of disruption the police wiould be out in numbers with tear gas and batons arresting the DP's before they even did anything. Then the government would denounce this activity and it would be broadcast all over the news. When the reds do it....I can hear a cricket chirp in the background...Criminal scum that are begging for a coup...

What are DP thugs ? Are we expected to know every abreviation used in Thai politics ? I thought at first it might stand for Democratic Party but democracy & thug are not two words that go together & I'm sure some Democratic politicians are criminal so it cant be that.

From what I can glean from above, according to you they are not criminals unlike red shirts all of whom are ? Does that mean they have all been arrested charged or are they just alleged criminals. Please provide proof of this.

No I do not support or have much of an idea of the difference between a red & yellow shirts except they are different colours.
