This partnership will bring significant benefits to our guest through extensive code share; offering a combined network of 140 destinations including 52 cities in India.

Also on the anvil are enhanced FFP features where JetPrivilege members will benefit from an integrated programme offering, through which you as a member will enjoy tier recognition benefits on Etihad Airways flights in addition to the current ability to earn and redeem miles across the combined network of both the airlines.

There is more. But i just thought I'd post this out of interest.

Maybe Jet Airways will improve somewhat? It would be good if you get a combination of flights etc.

Obviously those who know about these things might be able to advise if this is for the better or not.

Standard marketing claptrap & boilerplate, although I certainly look forward to using my JetMiles on Etihad instead, next year ! Had been hoping this deal might evetually come-off ! thumbsup.gif

The benefit seems to be that Etihad get much-better-access to passengers to/from India, than their Gulf-based competitors. Perhaps this may be worth the cost to them, in the longer-term, it's an interesting strategy ! Certainly having 1.2 billion more-accessible potential-customers, a couple of hours away, would give them a step-up from their UAE home-base, which they share with Emirates !

Also that flights West from India may involve a change in Abu Dhabi, to an Etihad plane, although I doubt that Etihad-customers to Asia/Far-East will find themselves going via BOM on a Jet B737 !

Perhaps Jet will be able to lease their underused B777s to Etihad, now that Thai are returning theirs, and since their own long-haul routes have been cut-back in the past year ?

Jet's website and in-flight-service may also see some improvement, learning from their better Gulf-based neighbours, although this may mean higher-prices on Jet in future ?

Can't be good news for Air India, who have been trying to join Star-Alliance for ages, but couldn't quite pull it off.

I too think the idea of being able to use Jet air miles with Etihad would be a goodf idea.

I was wondering if this might alter the price structure of Jet Airways in an upward direction though.

On the other hand maybe we will see an overall improvement to the way Jet airways is run?

Etihad also codeshare with Air Berlin from Germany and they make Jet Airways look like the Ritz of the skies in comparison.

etihad are going down in my opinion (after almost 10 years of use)..fares are far higher than last year plus this team up with Indians is not who I want to be sitting next to on a mid priced 18 hour flight.......Economy is cramped,Business is not a patch on what it was, time to move on I think

Why do airlines and hotels.... insist on calling paying customers "guests"?

Of course it is because it sound better than customers, but really!

WHo charges a guest to stay with them? Who charges a guest to travel with them?

I stopped using Etihad when their fares were almost £200 more than many other airlines. As I recall, this happened after they were voted one of the best airlines in the world. Seems the accolade went to their heads.

Thankfully, now I have a retirement visa so I no longer need to fly to the U.K. every year for a new visa.

I do think though that Jet airways might improve with this alliance, especially at the Indian airports which I found was a shambles. Time will tell.
