Going great. They keep making improvements with full time staff on campus just for the program. They are real willing to change things if you ask them.

The bad part is that sitting in class Monday through Friday gets a bit boring. Good teachers, though.

We had a busy time through to May. Lots of writing papers and the such. Most things had improved which shows that we are heading in the right direction. There is no doubt that the degree is going to make me a better, more lake knowledgeable teacher. 2 years to go yet so its a long time to go.

In total honesty I cant say that everybody is happy as we are all looking for different things, and some people don't want to work for the qualification. It is possible to get a lot out of the degree, unfortunately one of those things is a visa, and some peoplpe will only want that. Personally I think the degree will be worth the effort and that most students take it seriously. I just hope that as the course increases intake (which is happening rapidly) that the improvements continue. I,m fairly confident they will, and look forward to the rest of the courses. If you have any questions about the course feel free to PM me and I,ll give you an honest answer

I've had the opportunity to meet a couple of students from the program. They seem to be quite motivated and sincere. Best of luck.

Actually we are going to start removing a few people from the program who thought that they could pay a fee, get a visa and disappear. Unfortunately for them (and fortunately for everyone else) this is a real degree program.

I think this will make everybody on the course and outside it sit up and realise (finally) that the course means business. Well done on taking the initiative Bruceclap2.gif

is this the same as the remote degree which requires 2 months of classroom study a year or is it different, an onsite version?

Many thanks

There is only one degree. The vast majority of the credits are earned in class by attending 9 weeks per year over three years (you can attend more or less depending upon your individual schedule). The rest of the credits are via three research papers and a few self access classes.

Bruce, I heard you are try to hire a professional recuiter, pay only commision of like 10-15k a month. I hope your teachers are paid better. No offense but can you really get decent staff for that kind of money?

Shouldn't there be a bit more substance to this than "I heard". I heard that the cow jumped over the moon; it doesn't make it true though. Please, dont expect me to be posting about such hearsay anytime soon. perhaps yoU could divulge how you heard this.

I think we will stick to the topic of the degree rather than the administrative and related functions. This is the teaching forum.

I have no idea what this person is talking about. The lowest paid person in our office, the Thai administrator, is paid more than the amounts you mention. Quite a bit more. I'm afraid your sources are not very good. And when we help the teachers find work we will not even talk to schools that pay less than 30,000 per month--an amount we consider the minimum current salary for a native-speaking English teacher.

But I agree we should stick to teaching and learning here.

Bruce, I think he is having a snipe at the lecturers that are being used on the course. It's great to see you are still overlooking all this stuff; see you in a couple of months.

No idea. He is talking about a recruiter. Perhaps someone has placed an ad for a recruiter and is offering a commission per head on the new programs that will be opening soon (not English teaching related). I'm afraid I know nothing about this, but no decent sales person would be happy earning 10-15K per month. But per head, if they could recruit 5 students per month (these new programs target mainly Thai students) then the money starts to look pretty reasonable.

But, again, I have no idea what this is about.

I hope it's all going well. The program seems to be one of the few solutions that offer a degree program in three years part-time.

However, I do want to stress that holding a university degree is the first step to get legally employed in Thai K12 schools. The next step is getting the TCT teacher license.

I have a diploma in TESOL from the UK. Would you offer any credits for this towards doing my degree?

yes, transfer credits are done on a case-by-case basis.

The instructor for each course decides the requirements. Some courses require exams, some require projects, some require papers.

So the MoE does not set the requirements?

The MOE certainly does not get involved in whether a particular instructor asks students in their class to write a paper or take an exam for every course offered at every degree at every university in the Kingdom.

I'm very interested in this course. When is the next enrollment date? Do you have a website I can browse through? Cheers.

I am not allowed to post url or Emails, but a Google search of Thongsook BA TESOL should find us at or near the top of the list.
