Now to be fair, I know there are lots of good Thai women, and I know some guys are lucky with good relationships. I'm just not willing to take that chance to the point of marriage. Before you say it, I also realize that there are lots of grubbing Western women too.

I was just visiting a Thai dating site, mostly for kicks, but maybe to find a gf - who knows. Then I run across this very honest if scary message from an unusually pretty Thai woman who claims to have a bachelor's degree.

It doesn't get any more honest than this. The problem is that I fear too many are thinking it but not saying it.

Comments please.

I read it as a girl clearly stating that she is only interested in a serious long term relationship and hoping to discourage punters looking for freebies. Sounds like a 'once bitten twice shy' kind of scenario.

Sounds sincere. When I was dating, I was looking primarily for non-pretentiousness. That eliminated about 90% of the profiles I saw.

As much as guys complain about the Thai dating sites (pro's and pro-Am's on the site) imagine how bad it is for any half-decent looking girl seeking a genuine relationship. They're probably swamped with all kinds of lewd offers, and wondering how can they meet a truly straight-up guy. That might well be the case here.

As simple as that. Western women are the same, they just don't utter it so directly. When you engage them however, you soon find out they think on the same level.

This date is absolutely serious in not wanting to meet a Cheap Charlie punter, why waste time, she's committed and she told ya.

If I was you, I would respect her.

Having read this and other threads, I would strongly recommend any girl against internet dating.

Unless she had seriously psycopathic tendencies, a well thought out plan and a slightly ironic sense of humour.

Lost count of the number of girls I've met via the dating sites who's profiles all read a different flavor of the OP. Even with those girls a single date is all it takes to get them back to the hotel/their place. Everyone has needs, even the 'good girls'.

This is the sort of girl who despite saying all that ends up in your bed on the first night. I ignore whatever they say on the profiles and just look at the pictures most of the time and message if I like the look of them. The amount of girls I've met who claimed they aren't interested in sex then have sex with me about 2hrs after meeting is unreal.

Even the obvious bar girls on the dating sites say they aren't looking for sex and not to message them if you want it.

I don't understand the purpose of Dating Sites in Thailand? It's like taking a fishing rod to a fish farm.

There are millions of potential wives and lifetime partners walking around Thailand looking for a good, caring man to look after them and they want to look after him in return. There are also thousands of wiley girls looking to take a mug for an (expensive) ride ..... but it's hardly rocket science to be able to spot the difference.

The woman has told the OP two things.

1. She's looking for someone to help her take care of her family (a good/bad thing -well that depends on the guy who takes her up)

2. She clearly holds the view that guys searching these sites are looking for sex.

i think one should not overlook the fact that she has probably had more than her fair share of email abuse from horny dipshits who are simply using the dating services to avoid paying a bar fine and is reacting accordingly.
