Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone knows for sure what's required for the Thai work permit health certificate check up.

Different hospitals keep giving different answers which is confusing.

BNH says needs the normal tests plus blood tests and chest x-ray.

Bumrungrad says just test for 6 diseases, nothing more.

Also heard word of needing blood type to be recorded also!

Anyone have any solid info? I just wanna make sure I get it done right.

Cheers.

1.5 Not having prohibitive diseases ( Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis, third phase of Syphilis) as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535.

The last two times I did the work permit medical certificate I had to specifically have a blood test and a medical report stating I didn't have the above. No chest xray was required but I assume some offices may want more or less so best check with your local labor department for clarification.

Cheers,

Just confusing as I asked Bumrungrad and they specifically told me no blood test was required but optional, I would have thought they should know what they are doing, but perhaps not.

I think I'll get it done anyway just to be sure.

It will depend on how often they deal with WP application requirements. The hospital I use in Chiang Mai where I get mine from, just told them certificate for work permit and they knew exactly what to do and saw a pile of applications for such on the desk.

The blood test is not something required by the labour department, it's up to the doctor. However many private hospitals have cottoned on the fact that by requiring a blood test for every WP medical certificate they can make a lot of money. Fortunately though there are still some hospitals accepted by the labour department that don't insist on the blood test.
