So who is Trump negotiating with? Even the Iranians don't seem to know, as so far they have denied there are any talks. Are the Iranians going to pull a Trump and when some Iranian negotiator is identified say,"I don't know him; maybe he once served us coffee?" Could it be the former Shah's son negotiating, a guy who has as much authority in Iran as Honey Boo Boo? Could it be Trump's friend John Barron? Maybe it's some kid with a shwama stand in downtown Isfahan? Is Trump's claim of productive negotiations just another dementia-driven fantasy, such as his claim he stopped the 1994 Rwandan Genocide? Mark Twin once famously said, "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics." With Trump, there are lies, damn lies, and delusions. Frankly, it doesn't matter, because ultimately Netanyahu holds the Trump card. There were negotiations with other Iranian officials before Bibi and Trump ordered all of the Iranian leaders killed, but Netanyahu didn't like anything he would likely describe as appeasement, so he started the war, forcing Trump to join in. Will history repeat? Will Netanyahu begin striking Iranian energy facilities and infrastructure and force Trump's tiny hands again? How about the Iranians? They have twice seen negotiations abruptly end with attacks, so EVEN IF there are current talks, is Iran just fine tuning their own attack plans on Israel (such as at Dimona) or on GCC oil and gas facilities? Iran also had signed the JCPOA back in 2015, yet saw that agreement meant nothing once Trump took over. Why should they trust Trump? There is unlikely to be much trust among parties to this matter. Iran cannot be trusted. Trump cannot be trusted. Netanyahu cannot be trusted.
