Is there a way to prevent Word from splitting Thai words across different lines? Word seems to handle it for some words, but other words it breaks across separate lines such as โปรดเกล้าฯ for which it puts the ฯ on a new line!

I would have thought that "Align Text Left" would have solved your problem. However with the continuous string of characters in written Thai, you're going to end up with some ugly looking formatting on your page. I'll use roman characters below as an example of what you might get:

dgfadfgadfgdsgfdgf dfgdgfdfgsdfgsdgsdfgsdfgdgtfhfghs dfgsdfg sdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfg sdfgsdfgdsgsdfgsdfgsdfg fghsfgfg sdfh sdfghfdgsgsdgsdgsdgsdgfds dgsdfgsdfghsfhgsfgsdfgsdf fg sdfgsdfgsdfgsdfg sdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgdfasd sadfasdf asdf asdf asdf adgt dfg dfg adfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsfd sdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsfdgsdgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsd gfdsf gsdf gsd sd fgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdfgsdf.

The line breaks have appeared correctly as they were typed, but the large strings of continuous characters force huge gaps at the line breaks.

Suggest you try "Align Text Left" and if it looks too ugly on the line break, use the Enter key to force a line break to make it look more visibly appealing and conform to Thai accepted writing structure. I'm not sure if the Thai version of MsWord has a particular solution to this problem, but I've seen my wife struggle with the same problem as you and this was her solution. From what I gather, she forces a line break that seems to be acceptable as written Thai, but is not necessarily a place that a Thai would have a space as such.

I would suggest checking on the Microsoft Office web site for a Thai Language Pack (not the interface pack, although you can check what that will do for you also) and see if the "grammar" portion of the language pack takes care of that. Depending on where you got your software and its license, you may have to pay for a Thai language pack if you want one.

The alignment is set on 'Thai Distributed' which handles most of the alignment correctly, it just faults on some words.

I do have that but there are some words (particularly royal words) which still split across lines. I'm seeking a way of dealing with these special cases. When writing in HTML I can simply put a css white-space:nowrap around the word, does Word have such a capability?
