Changnoi2 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 There seems to be an upward trend with Blue lights on Wing mirrors and window jet washers. Im thinking in 5-10 years time 30-50% of the cards will start to look Boy racerish. Well being based in Thailand its more like Midlle age racerish. I just dont want to see it go this route. I like my Factory Standard.. arghhhh.
transam Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Must agree. .......... Theres a guy goes past my place with blue lights under the truck BUT the noise from the knacker-ed suspension can be heard a mile away.
thaicbr Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 personally i like green... its much better at spectrum...can be seen further away
Tywais Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Must agree. .......... Theres a guy goes past my place with blue lights under the truck BUT the noise from the knacker-ed suspension can be heard a mile away. Popular in some circles.

dogpoo Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 What's the problem with blue lights or any lights, it's a personal choice, I like blue and I'm not a boy racer although I do love my modified car!!

anon210 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 A recent study showed that blue light could maintain wakefulness... hence maybe the interest of having blue lights in the cabin. >_> Best solution remains coffee however. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Payboy Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Is it true that on Thai vehicles you can only find the brake pedal under UV light?
VocalNeal Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 A recent study showed that blue light could maintain wakefulness... hence maybe the interest of having blue lights in the cabin. >_> Back in the day as merkins would say. One could buy a very small blue light that one installed in the top corner of the inside of the windscreen and it shone in the face of the driver. This was to shrink the pupils so that one was not temporarily blinded by the lights of oncoming vehicles. Similar in principle to red eye reduction

Ace of Pop Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Perhaps those Blue Lights make them feel like the Flying Squad in Evos and Scubiedoos.
NanLaew Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 personally i like green... its much better at spectrum...can be seen further away As a frequent night driver, there are more trucks and buses with rings of green LED's around their red tail lights these days. I don't know what is worse, the almost invisible dull red tail lights or these bright green lights that one can see for bloody miles but totally <deleted> the night vision.

Similar in principle to red eye reduction The wife's CR-V has a blue LED in the forward overhead lamp panel that I always liked as it gave a nice illumination at night over the gear shift and dashboard. I am going to install a blue LED on the underside of my clip-on rear-view mirror/backup display combo in the pickup to get the same effect. Maybe help keep me awake too!
merijn Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 And don't forget the 4 inch exhaust pipe on an 1.5 ltr Toyota Vios. Lot of sound but drives even slower as an standard Vios because of the loss of power as nothing is adjusted off-course. Even my Thai wife think is funny. 1

It's about looks nothing to do with performance, you might think it is funny others do not, it's a personal choice, this choice which others choose does not affect you in any way, unless of course you go around thinking these people are prats, it would be better to just think "I don't like it, he does and that is all that matters" !

But they are prats. The driver cannot see them sooooooooooo he wants to impress pedestrians etc. Wants to look cool, similar to wearing sun glasses in the dark eh. But to me they look daft, but then l am not a teen. 3
dogpoo Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Explain to everyone why they are prats, I am 57 are you calling me a Pratt? are you unable to allow these people to do what they like without people like you thinking they are prats? Of course that is your opinion which you are allowed to have, Personally I do what I like when I like and like what I do!
dogpoo Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 What is wrong in wanting to impress people? The modifying scene is all about impressing other people who share your passion for these cars!! Personally I do not care about impressing other people as its what I like to do!! Happy days!!
transam Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Cool. ....................... I remember at the drag strip, we were all queuing for our run, a guy in the queue in a 0 to 60 in 10 minutes hatch had some very loud crap music on, a guy went up to him and said ''if you think that is cool OK, but don't do it here, FO or you will be wearing your hatch''. And yes it had flashing lights telling us it was there.

Sorry, but these superfluous lights do affect us when driving at night. Most of the time, they are quite blinding, and take a time of adaptation to regain the night vision, when Somchai or Jim Farang comes along with his christmas tree pickup. So being ridiculous does not kill the driver of the pickup, but it might kill others (not to speak of unauthorized mods on cars which are not configured to support them, and eventually lose one or several pieces).

There is a limit to modification which I would not cross, everything I have on my car is road legal, yes I like my big exhaust which is sound legal, I do not have any flashing lights or any lights that are illegal! I have seen many cars and pick-ups with many different color lights, I can honestly say I have never thought of them being dangerous to other road users!! I do think people with very loud illegal exhausts are prats, I do not like blue LED's to the rear of a vehicle, red ones I think are okay, today a Honda City passed me, it had a very big exhaust which sounded great, not noisy but a lovely deep sound, it had a huge rear spoiler which suited the car, body kit and obviously bigger aftermarket wheels, I loved it and its obviously something he loves!! Good on him!! The trouble here is that many Thais can not afford to modify there vehicle in the way it should be done, theses are the cars and pick-ups which are very dangerous!!
dogpoo Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Obviously another huge problem in this country is the lack of road law, the police do not seem to care what is on the road!

dogpoo Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 That's not an explanation, if you are to call people names you need to explain yourself!! If the cap fits is just a cop out!!
