How Many Of Us Would Like To Actually Be A Tv Moderator?

Featured Replies

I really do not know too much about TV, being someone who has just recently found this forum, and one who very much enjoys the community. My real opinion is that TV provides invaluable services to expats living in Thailand, and also to those who are thinking of coming to Thailand. I am sure I have never come across a website similar to TV, one which provides as much to the expats of another country in Asia, as TV provides to expats living in Thailand.

So my question is how many of the commentors on TV who have been posting for a year or more would be interested in becoming a TV moderator and why would they want to become a moderator? I do not know very much about being a moderator, but I am sure there are those of us who would like to be one. I suppose you would need to be some sort of speed reader, just one prerequisite for the job.

Please post your answers below.

Maybe when hell freezes lol

I would,so I can get rid of trolls like you. Honestly what is your motive in posting anything like that? Do you take special pills to give you inspiration?

HUMOUR: I'd love to be a TV moderator, as I was recently turned away from the Foreign Police Volunteers :-)

I hear they get paid in beer but I wouldn't know ... w00t.gif

I think you are wrong Oak, I think it could be a very interesting topic, I will be keeping my eye on it.

There is no incentive to be a moderator. These guys have a hard job dealing with posters like you.

Really? What makes it so intresting? a Chance to bash moderators perhaps? A member has to be invited to become one, for their contribution to the forum.cheesy.gif Are you there? Iam a reader & not a frequent poster, as I think some people on here sometimes are just TROLLS.

I used to be a Mod on another forum.I'll tell ya this....it's not easy.Trying to keep up with topics and sorting out heated arguments, trying to leave a thread open even if you don't agree with what's being said. You have to find neutral ground and that's not easy on this forum.Moving threads to their right section, watching for banned members sneaking in the backdoor and all the time trying to live a normal life.

Did it before.........never again coffee1.gif

I don't know what will make it interesting, TV posters I suppose.

Well if I was a moderator I'd clear all the posts in this thread except op/jing/possum/vinny

I couldn't possibly moderate, not impartial, enjoy throwing around my opinions, couldn't read through a lot of the rubbish posted, do enough of that already, being one of the few who actually reads a whole thread before posting!

Besides I'd be occupied 24/7 keeping an eye on........me smile.png

I think it's a reasonable topic and if it becomes an unreasonable topic it's your own darn fault, not the OPs.

This topic will run as long as there is no violation of this forum rule:

21) Not to discuss moderation publicly in the open forum; this includes individual actions, and specific or general policies and issues. You may send a PM to a moderator to discuss individual actions or email support (at) thaivisa.com to discuss moderation policy. Members should not block contact with moderators or administrators. Doing so will result in suspension.

As soon as the line is crossed, this will be closed.

Yep. I give it 20 minutes. whistling.gif

I've been told I have a "radio voice", which I think means I'm too ugly for Television work.

Oh, that TV. blink.png

Is being a Moderator a bit like buying a Harley?

You think it will get you the women , but really it doesn't happen

I have been a moderator on worlds 9th biggest newsforum, but I tell you it sukcs. You feel like a kind of policeman, while I'm actually an anarchist. Beside this, it annoyed me that hardly any mods could refrain from using their personal preferences and feelings to deal with members, in stead of staying independent and professional. I did not longer want to be a part of that intimate old boys club so I quit after a year. It's a very, very time consuming hobby and usually does not give anything in return, well... perhaps a kick of having 'power', for those who get an erection on that. Same with that guys from the tourist police, sheepdogs with dentures, LOL.

I think I was a moderator in a previous life and my reward for that is NOT being a moderator in this one ...

Count that as a blessing JT tongue.png

It takes a special kind of egg to be a mod, and you know what they say, you have to CRACK some eggs to make an omelette!

Ideally yes; but how realistic would it be with some of the characters turning up here?

Fair play! We know you would actually implement the ban yourself, which in turn would make you a good moderator. clap2.gifclap2.gif

Bearing in mind everything going on here I remain idealistic, mate.

He wouldn't be the first.... But you have got a valid point, Mr. Morakot.

So lets see, little or no pay, respect, and/or appreciation. Having all my free time consumed, and dealing with idiots.

I already have a job like that and dont need another. I'll pass wai.gif

Maybe for some of the more "niched" forums here, but on General? They don't make strong enough hard-hats for a gentle soul like me!
