I used to be a Mod on another forum.I'll tell ya this....it's not easy.Trying to keep up with topics and sorting out heated arguments,trying to leave a thread open even if you don't agree with what's being said.You have to find neutral ground and that's not easy on this forum.Moving threads to their right section,watching for banned members sneaking in the backdoor and all the time trying to live a normal life.

Did it before.........never again

+1000. I have also been a mod on another forum and will NEVER do it again. Between separating the knuckle draggers from the trolls and putting out flash fires, it put me off that forum entirely. I quit years ago and have not been back to that forum since.

2 reasons why I would not want to be a mod:

Firstly, it must be extremely time consuming and must require a lot of dedication to the job.

Secondly and the most important reason why I would not want the position, is all the responsibility involved. For example, what would happen on any open Thai forum if a poster posted something that strongly contravened Thailand’s strict defamatory laws and that post was not noticed and left in the system for nature to take it`s course? The job entails some huge responsibilities and constant vigilance.

No, being a mod is not for me. I would rather just be a passenger and let the train take the strain.

There is NO WAY I would like to become a moderator....even if I did get paid !!!

I think that it takes a special kind of person to be able to help control a forum as large as TVF.

Re Trolls

This is only an idea.... what about if new members had to send a valid copy of their ID before they could post (no infringe on privacy rights if it was only used by the administration?).

Maybe this could help cut down on the banned members continuing where they left off and I am sure that it would drastically lessen the amount of trolls.....

Anyone can make a new email address and user name,but making a new ID is much harder.
