People Watching.......

Have always been a people-watcher. I just like to observe how people act and inter-act in a given situation. Whenever a Farang with Lady enters a scene, Not always, but sometimes it unfolds like this::

Farang: Not so young and fit and trim anymore. His general appearance can not really be classified as "attractive".

The lady: Somewhat younger than him. (Looking bored and absent.) This changes only after the Farang adresses her and possibly tells her one of his knee-slapping jokes. She immediately "wakes-up" and gives him much laughter, a dazzling smile and sparkling eyes. The second he turns away, her face freezes again. The spark in her eyes was replaced by a blank, cold stare, that puts a shiver down my spine.

Is it that:

a) The Farang is "love-struck" to a point where the ability to interpret even obvious signals of body language etc are completely lost and he honestly believes that the woman next to him loves him?

or

B) The Farang is in the mode of "I don't care, as long as she delivers what I pay for"? Judging by the Farangs body-language etc, not easy to say, if a) or B) applies.

Basically, what do I care if a) or B) applies? It's of no concern to outsiders.

BUT THEN: When it turns out, that the Farang is in category a) and the date to visit the "family" of the lady is already set, I usually leave the scene, mumbling something like:

OH NO, NOT AGAIN !

Cheers.

I like to people watch too, but mostly the Thai, I notice not many Thai ladies insist on holding the hand of their Thai husband walking down the street.....but my wife seems never to miss an opportunity to take my hand. Does this mean the Thai ladies are happy to let their husband go, or that they are only with him for the money? I would appreciate your thoughts as I feel I may have to go on a Thai website and inform these guys of the danger they are in from their Thai females.

I've never noticed the phenomenon the OP mentioned. Maybe he lives in a rougher part of town than me, or maybe I should stare at people more.

I do feel that I should take more of an interest in my fellow man, because a lot of people seem to take a lot of pleasure in denigrating their fellows, and I feel perhaps I am missing out.

I don't care so much for people watching but I really get a blast when I get normal Thais to spit some venom on the bar girls wink.png

I have to admit I've not often seen this phenomenon where the lady comes back to life for a few seconds and then drifts off to a blank stare.

Many women seem to give a lot of attention to their foreign partner from what I have seen.

My current lady loves to hold my hand in the bar as well as in the street. She loves to sit as close as possible too. If I do not hold her hand, sit close or converse and have agood time with her, she feels unhappy.

If there are some sexy women working in the bar she makes sure they know who I am with w00t.gif

Maybe the men these women are with that you see do not pay them enough attention. A bit like bored housewife syndrome. And if the men cannot see it then they are definitely not paying them enough attention. Possibly she does not like the place they are at?

It could be, of course that she is only in it for the money and feels it is such hard work having to show feelings.

I think when a rental girl blatantly shows she's bored she's just advertising the fact that the guy's not paying her enough to put up with his company and hoping someone will "rescue" her.

If they enjoy being with you for reasons other than just the money then they'll stick around longer and/or for less. If you're mean, selfish and boring then you have to pay more to keep them around.

I hope that this won't turn into yet another one of those threads in which age difference gets a slagging. The opening post gets it off to a bad start.

People watching is a great pastime during those quiet moments if you understand body language. The thing is too observe but not judge. We know nothing about the lives of the people concerned or what might be their hopes and dreams. We should certainly not judge them by our own experience and standards. If you notice your lip curl up, you're probably being judgemental. Get another pastime for while you are waiting for your meal.

Traditionally, Thais don't welcome bodily contact in public. Even with their spouses. It seems to be changing and my wife and I often walk along hand in hand in the rare place when it's possible to walk side by side.

Anyway, who gives a flying fig what the watchers think?

It's hard not to people watch in Thailand, there are some real oddballs here.

Like older farang men with Thai stunners !! whistling.gif

Would like to post more, but my wheelchair is finally charged, Viagra and money in the pocket! So out in the City of Angels to chase some 18-20 years, 45 kilos, Thai ladies!!

I enjoy watching adults, but what I enjoy more is watching creative children play, or young, shy teenagers flirt with each other. The girls are usually more mature and have sort of figured out the relationship thing, but the boys kind of know what they want but have no way of knowing how to get it.
