Sure we'll have to wait and see but i've read you post and i still can't see why he would want to leave. Perhaps if he doesn't like the newly appointed manager but thats unlikely to be thrown on him as a surprise either

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Corinthians midfielder Paulinho.

Spurs have made a move for the 24-year-old after being frustrated in their attempts to sign Fredy Guarin from Inter, according to reports in the Italian press.

That's more like it ups.

Keep up the good work!

PS....a link to Cavani wouldn't go amiss. :P

The silly season just gets sillier and sillier.

I know the press has hardly been the most reliable source, but is it me or are they now completely off the rails??

Every day, there is news about probably half a dozen different clubs being linked with this player and that, when anybody with half a brain just knows it is nonsense.

I think it is down to 2 things. 1) The press nowadays have absolutely no pride and no interest in reporting the truth, with no repercussions or criticism when its proved they are a million miles off the mark

2) The 'information' they rely on, when they have any information, is coming from sh!t stirring agents who are trying to stir the pot to either get a better deal for their client with their existing club, else throwing a giant turd at the wall hoping some of it sticks!!

It really is so boring in the off season!!

Cavani's pop says his son wants to play for Real Madrid. So, so far we have reports from mom and dad. Cousins, and maybe an assorted uncle and aunt to step up soon.tongue.png

Sorry bartender. Off topic. OP is about rumours, not facts. And unless I'm mistaken, it's also about football.

Ok might be going to Norwich, still has to have a medical, and Norwich played some pretty good football against Man City, Man United ,Arsenal and Spurs all of which we beat this season gone

Which begs the question; when is a rumor so stupid and contrived its not worth printing? biggrin.png

When there are rumours and rumours of rumours, there's a possibility that there may be an element of truth. Some clubs are throwing money around like water in order to 'buy' success and it's not inconceivable that a good manager like AVB could be wanted and a high price (compensation) offered for his service as he's young and could prove to be a very good long term investment. You have mentioned in the past how well Bale likes working with AVB, so he won't leave Spurs, therefore, it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that IF AVB went and he wanted Bale to follow him it could happen. To go after someone's posts constantly and trying to put them down just because you don't like what you are reading, demonstrates a certain amount of immaturity. I repeat this is a rumour thread and if we knew things for sure they wouldn't be rumours would they?

I LOVE SPECULATION AND TRANSFER gossip, always have done and always will, right from when i used to make the old man buy the people, cos it was the only paper that had a transfer gossip column thumbsup.gif but i'm with carmine and i don't think his comment was aimed at the spurs 'gossip' more a general one about respect and not wasting other posters time by just ad lib pitching rubbish quotes 'into the/our mix. 4 me, there's a line and tbh as a rule of thumb, where the rumor comes from, gives or not gives it cred , ie if its in the times maybe its got cred', from the star, or maybe a random website, chances are its got none,. but really its a PERSONAL judgement call, whether you think its total pollacks or not, a. wai2.gif .

There continues to be a good bit of talk about Gonzalo Higuain heading to Arsenal. Apparently none of it to be sorted out until RM chooses a manager. As much as Higuain wants away, it seems there is a chance he would stay if he was offered consistent playing time.

Its unlikely he'll get regular first team football whilst Benzema is there. The talk of cavani joining continues to gain momentum aswell. i wouldn't be at all surprised if Higuain left

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2339768/Andre-Villas-Boas-wanted-Paris-Saint-Germain-boss.html

http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/212279.html

June 14th

Tottenham may have a tough time hanging on to Andre Villas-Boas if the bookmakers are to be listened to. The Portuguese manager has been installed as 2/1 joint favourite with online bookmaker Skybet to be the next manager of French side Paris St Germain. With no official words to back up any of these rumours, Andre Villas-Boas is allegedly on the shortlist that the Paris club have drawn up. This has all come to light with current manager Carlo Ancelotti looking certain to be leaving the French Champions and going to take over from Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid. Villas-Boas has looked settled in his role at White Hart Lane but his name has been linked with a move across the English Channel. Reports have been made that PSG will be ready to offer £40 million to AVB to take over as new boss.

I would say it qualifies as a rumour. smile.png

Agreed. Everything points in that direction. There is some bad blood now between Higuain and RM management, and it could be that RM will opt to make Higuain suffer a bit before selling him. Juventus has been on the radar as well, though that has cooled off a bit. RM reportedly asking 25mil also, though I reckon they'd settle for a hair or two less.

Wherefore art thou Ronaldo ?

Ronaldo's situation remains unsettled, IMO, despite RM's plaintive cries to the contrary. I figure that he's the biggest piece of the puzzle, and some other transfers won't happen (being put on hold) until his fate is known. I still think if SAF had remained at United Ronaldo would definitely have been at OT this coming season, and it could still happen.

http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1475698/ronaldo-doubt-monaco-united-circle?cc=4716

ronaldo's the main man at the biggest club in the world playing in arguably the best league. He has a new manager starting a new dawn for the club. Why would he want to go to Man Utd? He's been there, done that. Even if Ferguson was there, why? And now, theres probably a better chance of more trophies at Madrid anyway

Well, I don't want to sound obsequious, but anybody not listening to Carmine's point is a card short of a full deck. Unless Ronaldo's mum thinks differently.

Jose went back to Chelsea because he had unfinished business. Most people go back because they have to.

Ronaldo will not go back to Man U.

For crying out loud can someone PLEASE define an assist? Is it the brilliant 70 yard pass that deceives everyone, or the mesmerizing dribble on the wing, or is it credited to the simple schoolboy nod down for someone to crash home from 6 yards? Mostly the credit seems to go top the latter. Assists don't belong in football any more than calling it soccer, they are stupid and mostly not credited to the person who deserves it. When did assists start to take hold in UK....from whence did they come, who started all this nonsense in the EPL anyway? biggrin.png

This is just a guess but it wouldn't surprise me if it were Fantasy League that started it. A way of a player being awarded points maybe?

It's a bit like explaining the 'offside rule' to a woman.

An "assist" has been recognised on the footy fields as far back as I can remember. Ok it wasn't called an "assist" it was always called a "set-up". Certainly a stat worth recognising in assessments, whether it is a 60 yard cross field pass or a simple layoff. Goals aren't measured by their grace.

midfielder threads the ball through to defoe with total precision and Defoe hoofs it out of the ground. great pass.

same midfielder threads identical ball through to van Persie who promptly bangs it in the net. Great assist.

Assist is a totally over rated stat in terms of gauging a players true worthbiggrin.png

An better example would be Joe bloggs puts it on a plate for defoe 4 times in a game and each time he flucks it up.

Harry Smith puts it on a plate for rvp in a game once and he scores, who's got the better stats ?smile.png
